The cabin was adequate for my stay. I’m not a fan of baseboard heater as they pop and crack in the middle of the night. There was plenty of hot water and the bathroom was very nice. The kitchen was roomy and had everything I needed. The setting was pretty and having the fishing tackle there was a nice touch.
Hi Brian, the homeowners were surprised to read your review, as they are accustomed to providing 5-star experiences, and would like to clarify the following details:
- Since the heaters are thermostatically controlled, when they are heating up or cooling down, there can be a couple of soft popping sounds. However, it's never loud but I’m sorry that the noise caught you off guard. I've never had a complaint from guests about the baseboard heaters. Most guests prefer the radiant heat.
- While we do regret our home was not up to your expectations, we’re happy to share that no issues were reported by our most recent guests.
- We truly go above and beyond for our guests and are confident that future guests will have a wonderful stay. Thanks for letting us know about your experience!
This was our 3rd year staying here and we absolutely love it. We’ll see you next year!

This is a no frills place, but has most everything you need. The only thing missing was a washer and dryer, but they did offer a laundry service. The location is fantastic. Very close to great fishing, hiking, and white water rafting. The little stream across the street has phenomenal fishing too. If you’re looking for the ritz, look elsewhere. However, if you’re looking for a cute quiet little place to lay your head after spending the day outdoors, this is a fantastic and inexpensive option that has all you need.
Stayed over July 4th weekend. Having two family members with sensory sensitivities and doggos that experience severe anxiety with fireworks means it’s usually a stressful holiday for us. This property provided exactly what our group needed. My toddler has autism and his reset is nature. He was able to roam around safely with the large outdoor space and enjoyed watching a family of ducks come from the creek to the pond. He is mostly nonverbal and on our last morning while sitting on the pitch during a light rain, a duck quacked and he yelled, “Ducker!!!” These moments are huge for us. It was a relief being able to bring our dogs, know they were safe, and not experiencing the normal July 4th anxiety. We enjoyed the drive through the Nantahala Community and the time to reconnect with the elements. We were able to visit a few sites that brought more awareness to sacred land and culture. I found myself wishing for more time there. My toddler protested and was sad to leave, as well. My only “complaint” would be the lack of a/c. Even with the ceiling fans, milder evening temperatures, and helpful advice for keeping the cottage cooler, the humidity made it difficult to rest well at night. Perhaps a couple fans to place in the windows or a window a/c unit in the dining area would be helpful for folks staying during the summer months. I wouldn’t let that keep me from choosing this property though. It was tranquil and plenty comfortable overall. It suited our needs and we NEEDED our time there. Thank you to the owners for sharing their lovely property.
