  • Great place!

    5/5

Based on prior reviews, we prepared for the worst with the driveway. We got an AWD SUV and had no trouble at all. Can't say what it would be like in heavy rain or snow, but it was fine for our stay. Typical mountain road. The house was great. Clean, comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen. Patio was wonderful with nice grill, gas fire pit, beautiful view. Highly recommend.

  • Renter Beware

    2/5

We visit Colorado annually and are used to the Pros and Cons of rentals. Unfortunately, this time, our experience was not worth the trip, and I have never been so glad to leave our vacation spot. Sadly, we did have to leave 2 days early for family reasons, but we had already made up our minds to leave early. We left 2 days early and wasted 2 days lodging, and it was mainly due to the horrible access to the rental.

To say the road up to the rental would be a joke, it is nothing more than a path carved into the side of the mountain. This path is steep, with nothing but loose dirt, rocks, and mini boulders that beat the crap out of your vehicle as you attempt to ascend it. The switchbacks are not hairpin, they are better described as breakneck. The path to the rental was so bad that it was a great source of daily stress and we limited our venturing out to keep from having to drive on it.

I spoke with the owner and she described the path and that she had done it in a mini van. I believe she did and the drive was achievable in our FWD Buick Enclave and FWD Chevy Blazer, but achievable is not acceptable when you pay so much money to stay in a nice area.

Of Note, there was a very nice gentleman tirelessly working to make the path better, but his chore was like trying to bail out the Titanic with a spoon. He was very nice and offered up his truck for us to ascend the path, but who wants to leave their vehicle parked a half mile away by the main road overnight? In hindsight, it might have been cheaper to have our car stolen or vandalized than the damage it incurred while ascending that ridiculous path up the mountainside.

However, there were some Pros such as cool mornings, a nice view, the area was quiet, the sound of the distant river was pleasant and the house was spacious.

Unfortunately, there were more Cons besides the horrible path up the mountainside side such as no oven, the house was extremely hot during the day and did not cool off until late at night even with the 3 fans we brought with us, the limited water was a pain but nothing more than a big inconvenience, the Weber grill needs repair but usable, and the pictures online showcase the place in a better light than reality.

I was really looking forward to escaping the Texas heat with our yearly trip to the Mountains, but unfortunately, this trip was not worth it. The rental was less than comfortable, the path to the rental was treacherous/stress-provoking, plus the costly vehicle damage.

  • Great house!

    5/5

Our family of 6 really enjoyed staying here. It’s a beautiful home and the cleanest home we’ve ever stayed in. We would stay here again if we have the opportunity!

You can’t beat the deck view with the mountains in the back ground. Beautiful place, drive way was a little sketchy. But we’ll worth it.
