  • Good, but lacking in a few areas

    The property is nice, good condition. A prev review mentioned cleanliness problems, which i was very worried about, but the property was clean for our visit including the bathrooms. The furniture is in good shape, beds were nice. A couple issues made the visit less than ideal. We bought $150 worth of Wagyu beef steaks, and couldn't grill 'em because there was no propane tank in the property grill. Owner texted and said we could use the community grill which was nowhere to be seen (or was buried under 5 feet of snow), or go get a new tank, and they would re-imburse, but that doesn't feel the best way to handle such a problem. They should've had one brought by. The other issue was the unit temperature. We kept raising the heat to 69/70, but the 'smart' thermostat kept lowering it back to 64 every time we looked back. The gas fireplace also didn't work (pilot was out), another way we could've quickly raised the temp. No big deal, but nice to have.

    We could arrive at 4pm and at 4:30pm I still had not received the code for entry. I had to contact the owner, all my emails said the owner would contact me. The place was dirty. The kitchen counter tops were full of crumbs, their was a large brown splatter above the kitchen sink, there were gross, crusty,brown stains on the bedding, the rugs in the bathroom were dirty and stained (I washed them myself and they came out very clean, but I don't feel I should have had to clean after a 14 hour drive). The floors in the laundry closet were filled with a huge pile of lint and garbage, there was a dried,bloody booger on the bathroom wall, the bathtub felt gritty, the closet floors had not been vacuumed, the fireplace didn't work at all (my husband can fix anything and couldn't get it to work even after reading the instructions. The heating unit was had baseboard heaters and either did not work properly or just couldn't keep up with the cold temperatures. The thermostat had a mild of its own and we woke up in the middle of the night to 63 degrees. The cupboard, pantry,, coat closet, and utility closet were full of clutter. I found a pair of rolled up leggings in one of the closets and when I went to remove them a pair of dirty underwear fell out. I definitely would not recommend if you care about cleanliness.

    Hi Andra, we want our guests to arrive at a vacation home that is 100% ready for their stay, so we take the cleanliness of our properties seriously! We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
    - We're disappointed your stay did not meet your expectations and want to take a moment to address your concerns.
    - We promptly responded when you reached out for the access code to the home, and I apologize that I had not reached out before the scheduled check-in time even though you were still an hour away.
    - We have never had this complaint before, we have very high standards and use a cleaning service to have the home professionally cleaned before each guest's stay. When you made us aware of your concerns, I offered to send the cleaning service back to the home, but you politely declined and stated that you just wanted me to be "aware". Although this was an isolated incident, we have since followed up with our cleaning service to ensure they pay closer attention to detail so future guests do not share the same experience.
    - We had the heating system checked, and it was determined to be working fine, but due to the severe weather conditions where the temperatures dropped below zero it had to work harder to maintain the temperature to the desired setting.
    - We were unaware of any concerns with the fireplace during your stay and had we been aware we would have been more than happy to send someone out to address the issue and make any necessary repairs had they been needed.
    - We hope the measures taken by both ourselves and Evolve made up for any inconvenience you may have encountered during your stay.
    We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.
