  • Words cannot describe how disappointed we were

    The house was just dirty, and misrepresented by the pictures on the site. We tried and tried through Evolve customer service and VRBO customer service to resolve the issues, but neither could get the owner to send out the cleaning person to resolve the problems. Here's some of the issues: counters were sticky and gummy, most pots and baking dishes had food stuck on them, stove was filthy, burners on the stove had food caked on them,all kitchen cabinets and closets were crammed full of owners property with notes on them to not use, so we had no where to store our stuff, there were wires hanging from the kitchen ceiling. All of the vents were full of dust, sheets stained, towels with holes in them, cobwebs in the corners of the house, ceiling fans full of dust, cabinets doors broken ( with more notes not to use), no closets in two of the bedroom, no air-conditioning, bunk beds not made up and no real mattresses, just foam. Most of the furniture was so worn you literally sank down in the couches.We called Evolve- who told us that the cleaners were busy and didn't have time to come by, we escalated and tried to get VRBO to help us relocate-to no avail. We sent many pictures and Evolve explained that they relied on the local hosts and cleaners to manage the property. They offered a 10% refund and told us we had to vacate by the next day! Impossible to find another property in this popular vacation area, and of course we had spent our budget on this property. After many phone calls we got the cleaning fee returned. I think Evolve shields owners like this from bad reviews. On both sites the property was listed as CoVid clean- a real joke. Most of the group cut their vacation off early because they didn't want to stay in this terrible place any longer.

    - We followed up with the homeowners, who assured us that the house was thoroughly cleaned before your arrival and is just as advertised on the listing.
    - We at Evolve, along with the homeowners, did all we could to address your concerns promptly and did offer a refund if you wished to find another property. Unfortunately, Vrbo let us know that the documentation provided did not warrant their involvement in helping you relocate.
    - We are very sorry that you were not happy with this property. The owner has assured us that they will continue to work hard to provide a clean and comfortable home for all future guests.

    There were just a few little things that were missing or not working. Wouldn't keep us from staying there again, just hope they would dig a little deeper when preparing a home for visitors.

    We loved this little mountain community! The house wasn't perfect, a few bumps and bruises here and there, but no complaints and we would return. Was worried about no AC in August, but the house stayed surprisingly cool and we even lit a fire in the fireplace one night. We spent time on the front porch talking and playing games. The area was perfect for what we were doing; day hikes and quiet time. We ate in everyday, kitchen has all you need to whip up meals. Not many restaurants to choose from unless you drive a bit. Drove the Blue Ridge to Blowing Rock, which the most scenic section's entrance is a couple miles away. Family members played golf and said the course is top notch. Would recommend based on cost, location, and ease of the rental (property manager lives a few doors down).
