1/5 Let me preface this review by saying that we needed a cottage in this very specific location for a family reunion. We had access to my parents cottage for most of what we needed--this cottage was basically rented for the extra beds and bathroom. This hopefully explains why we did not cancel the stay (the only solution offered by Evolve). I'll start with the pros:1) Really sleeps 8, comfortable beds 2) there was a water softener--major plus as Arbutus beach has horrible well water!3) this section of Otsego Lake is really nice, with a good sandy beach and good for kidsNeutrals:1) no air conditioning, but the listing clearly states that2) adequate kitchen for minimal meal prep* OK, so the cons:1) The only local contact you are given is the cleaning company, so with the problems below, we really had no help.2) NO HEAT!!! There is a thermostat on the wall, but it controls nothing. There is a stand alone gas stove. Took 4 adults to work and only setting is INFERNO. 3) the house is next to a burned out store and across the street from 2 large continually barking dogs4) the washing machine worked to clean clothes, but make a LOUD constant beeping noise the entire time it was running5) there was only dishes/glasses/chairs at the table for 4 people despite the beds for 86) the rental company is useless. I talked to several people there (it takes a LOT of work to get to a human) and never had any resolution of my issue with the heat other than the offer to cancel

- The listing does specify that there's no air conditioning or central heating, and instead, the home relies on a gas fireplace for heating. We apologize if this information caught you off-guard.
- We appreciate your feedback regarding the condition of the dishes and washing machine. While these have not been issues in the past, we will take immediate steps to ensure they are in good condition for future guests.
- Concerning the barking dogs, this has been reported by other neighbors as well. Unfortunately, it is currently beyond our control, but we appreciate your understanding.
