  My husband, cousin, and I had the most amazing experience during our recent stay at the Bowlegs home! This charming property offered everything we could have asked for a family vacation and more. We were greeted by the picturesque beauty of the location – a serene dock that extended out into the beautiful Steinhatchee river, perfect for both enjoying the sunset and having your morning coffee.

  The property's dock and ice machine were incredibly convenient for our fishing and scalloping adventures. We parked our jetskis right at the covered dock, which was so perfect for bringing our coolers freshly stocked up. Even though having an ice machine right there on the property might seem like a small detail, it made a world of difference, especially on these scorching hot Florida days when you need to keep your snacks and drinks nice and cool!

  The interior of the property was an absolute delight super cozy, featuring comfortable reclining couches, really clean and incredibly functional. We also loved the fact that there are 2 full bathrooms with showers! To those who love to cook their own food, the kitchen was stocked with plenty of dishes, pans and helpful gadgets.

  It's not always easy to find a vacation rental that strikes the perfect balance between comfort, function and cleanliness, but this place did just that. I feel like I need to mention (since there was a not-so-great review week before our stay), that the level of cleanliness was impeccable. As a crazy person who steams her floors even in garage I felt instantly at ease. The comfortable reclining couches were a pleasant surprise, and quickly became our go-to spot for relaxation and hanging out after a day on the water.

  I can't thank the hosts enough for their attention to detail and for creating such a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. This getaway was truly a vacation with no worries. I wholeheartedly recommend this Airbnb to anyone looking for a comfortable and peaceful retreat in Steinhatchee. Whether you're fishing off the dock, enjoying the picturesque surroundings, or simply unwinding on those comfortable couches, you're sure to make lasting memories here. This place has definitely earned a special spot in our hearts, and we can't wait to come back here!

• wonderful stay at bowlegs

  my family thoroughly enjoyed our stay this weekend at the bowlegs property! it was the perfect location for fun on the river. We enjoyed a delicious meal of fresh scallops. The kitchen had everything we needed and the furniture was comfortable. We will be back! ~ Jamie

• Bowlegs last resort - don’t do it

  The photos online must have a serious filter added. The outside photos are not what we found & we actually thought we drove to the wrong location. The “boat slip” had another boat occupying the designated slip the entire time. Upon arrival the 3 trash cans were packed full & had a horrible smell-they were never emptied. A man from across the street stopped by and said the trash would be taken out that day & offered us pounds of ice. Not sure of his correlation with the property at all. Upon entry the door to the home was overpowering. Old smoke and musty odors engulfed us each time we entered. The ceiling in the kitchen and living room were separated, exposing insulation & fruit flies were flying in & out. There was a used dental floss pick in the floor of the main bedroom beside the curtain & the thickness of the dust under the love seat was unreal. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher upon arrival. On night two we emailed about the AC not working properly/being frozen, the house was 78 degrees (went up to 82) & the thermostat was on 72. We had been gone scalloping all day & came into a HOT trailer. Evolve emailed me 30/40 min after my initial email & said they’d have someone from the safety & response team “contact me shortly” .. never heard from them, even 24 hrs post checkout. We used the 2 mediocre floor fans to move air about the rental just to stay cool. We will NOT be staying here again, we visit 4-6 times a year and have warned the locals we know as well!
