  • July stay at Bearvista

    2/5

Our stay was following the previous reviewer who stated how hot the cabin was as there was no air conditioning. After placing a call to the management company expressing my concern, I was pleased that they took immediate action and installed two portable ac units. It definitely helped. That being said, the cabin was lacking in basic amenities. This cabin states it sleeps 15. We were 7. The pans available were one 8 inch and one 10 inch. not enough for to cook for 7 let alone 15. I had to scramble 18 eggs in 3 batches. Bacon and sausages were started the night before to accommodate for the lack of appropriate supplies. There was one small cookie sheet. There were no basic seasonings including salt. The hand soaps provided were so watered down that it didn't even make suds. Upon our arrival we were told that we would be limited to 2 bags of trash or subjected to a fee. And they provided exactly 2 bags. Our stay was for 4 nights. I have rented in Arnold twice a year for over 30 years. I have never experienced that kind of limitation. Again, we were a group of 7. I don't understand how they could expect a party of 15 to meet that expectation.

    Manager's Response:

Angela, we want to extend our sincere gratitude for sharing your valuable feedback with us regarding your recent stay. Your input is highly valued, and we appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your experience. After sending your feedback to the owner, we’d like to share the following:

-We’ve hosted many larger groups, including parties of up to 15 people, and have not received complaints regarding the availability of kitchen supplies. The cabin is equipped with basic cookware, and for anything beyond what’s provided, there is a grocery store just minutes away that can supply additional items as needed.
-As for the soap, we regularly restock with both liquid soap and individually wrapped soaps, as confirmed by our long-term cleaner. While we do provide some basics, we encourage guests to bring any specific items they might need for cooking. If you had requested additional spices or supplies, we would have been happy to arrange for their delivery during your stay.
-Regarding the trash limitation, this policy is in place to ensure that waste management is handled efficiently. The two-bag limit is standard, but we appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration for future stays.

We appreciate your loyalty to the area and your continued patronage. We strive to provide a comfortable stay for all our guests, and your input helps us improve our services. Thank you again!

  • Too Hot

    2/5

The property would be a great winter vacation home. We anticipated hot weather and knew the house does not have AC. We checked with the owner to see how hot the house gets. We were told there are fans, and one portable AC unit if needed. The upstairs rooms that include 6 twin beds, one king, and one double got up to 100 degrees during the day with the AC running. We were unable to use the upstairs as it never cooled down enough to sleep. It would have been nice if the owner would have communicated this with us before our arrival, especially since we specifically asked about this issue.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Jeff, we want our guests to have a comfortable stay and apologize for any discomfort you experienced during your visit. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:

    - Arnold typically has cooler summers due to its elevation (4,000 feet) and wooded surroundings, which is why most houses in the area, including ours, do not have central A/C
    - The home is equipped with six efficient fans and one portable A/C unit upstairs. We understand that this was not sufficient due to the unusually hot weather, and we regret any inconvenience caused
    - We offered the option to relocate and receive a refund if the heat was too uncomfortable, but we understand you chose to stay

We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests. Thanks again for your feedback!

  • no central air

    5/5

The only huge problem with the cabin was that it was super hot, only on the second floor when we got there but then the whole house quickly became hot. luckily we found an ac unit on the lower level. We also had trouble getting the keys out of the lockbox but other than that it was a beautiful home and the hot tub was easily accessible.

  • Nice cabin but some problems

    2/5

The place is nice. Perfect place for the size of our group. Great deck and view. The WIFI drops a lot and there is terrible phone reception. This made it difficult for our texts to the owners asking about specific issues during our trip which included the septic tank. Make sure you text them from different phone plans to make sure they get your message.
