    A memorable homecoming visiting family and friends in the Shepherdstown area!

    Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect house right in the heart of town. Our host was fantastic, so many thoughtful additions for our stay.

  • Historic townhome in Shepherdstown WV

    Our first time staying in town within walking distance of shops and restaurants. This house was perfect for our family. Yes, the steps throughout the house require a bit of maneuvering, but just add a quirky charm to the antiquity of design.

    The host thought of everything, down to a jar of coins for guests who may not have known about the meter parking. My favorite spot in the house is the sunny upstairs veranda. Our granddaughter was tickled pink to find the clawfoot bath tub upstairs~ the downstairs bathroom has a full tub/shower. Looking forward to returning next fall!

    The location was great. It's adjacent to Blue Moon, easy stroll to downtown, free parking in the U lots when school's not in session and you're attending the CATF. Plenty of street meter parking.

    There are nice common areas in the house except for uneven floor heights in the two 1st floor front rooms. Also there are uneven stair heights going to the 2nd floor. It's an old house! The 2 older couples used the 2nd fl bathroom and didn't have to negotiate the stairs at night.

    What's advertised as the master BR is actually in an old addition at the back of the 2nd floor. It wasn't connected to the central AC. The transom AC units were trying to send heat into an over-heated hot sunlit 2nd floor porch rather than outside - doesn't work very well and the couple in that room struggled with heat.

    I used the top bunk in the bunkbed room. BTW some of the listings don't clearly ID that one of the BRs is a bunkbed only. A bit of a mildew smell but the ceiling fans in all the rooms helped to keep air moving.

    The house was very clean and well appointed. Be aware that it is an older house with lots of steps. Transitioning from one room to another involves going up or down a couple steps. The location is perfect for walking around Shepherdstown. Lots of shops and restaurants, and close to the river.Bring lots of quarters as you must feed the meter to avoid a ticket.I would have liked to have seen a history of the house, perhaps with pictures.We enjoyed our stay, would definitely stay there again.

  • These old bones

    If you enjoy old historic homes, this one is right up your alley. The house has a great location and is very well stocked in the kitchen and plenty of towels.

    The bathroom situation is a bit awkward. The bedrooms are on the second floor with one bathroom that has a tub. The deeply sunken tub/shower is located on the first floor.
