• Tics & mice, and decieving photos

  Let me start off by saying the photos of the “beach” that is pictured in the photos provided is not true at all. It is all washed up and weeds are growing out of it. It’s all dirt, no sand. This was the main reason we got this house because of the children so we did not have to drive 15 minutes to the actual beach and pack everything up for them. As well as the deceiving photos of the “beach” it says you can park two cars in the garage , which you cannot. The owners stuff is in the garage spread throughout. Second of all, the place was literally infested with tics which is a very big concern considering we have a 1 & 6 year old playing outside. Now we understand we’re in the woods but the place was literally infested with them which should have been a noticed to whoever stays there especially with children. Once we found one tic, it was on from there. Every one of us ended up getting a tic on us all in the same exact day. We couldn’t even go back outside to enjoy the beautiful lake after the first day of being there, and stayed in the house other than heading to the stores. Third concern, there were literally mice in the house! My sister, her bf, and daughter all stayed in the basement and one even chewed through her socks! As well, it did not feel as if we were on vacation, and comfortably. The owners clothes were still in the drawers so we didn’t feel comfortable putting our clothes there, we had to leave our suit cases packed for the 5 days. When we walked into the master bedroom there was shorts of a man laying half under the bed. The bathroom drawers where full of there razors, tooth brushes, and tooth paste. I have never experienced any of this whenever I rented out a air bnb. We all felt very uncomfortable. To end, there should of been a notice to tics being throughout the property infested with them, the mice in the basement , that there in fact is not a sandy front to the property, & more cleaned out air bnb. Very dissatisfied with our stay.

  Hi Ashley, we're sorry to hear your stay fell short of expectations. After reviewing your feedback, the homeowner wanted to address a few points:
  - The property is not listed as being on a beach. In our welcome book, we do point out that there is a beach 15 min away.
  - Our photo shoot was in winter, and the dock was out. We'll consider updating the photos to better reflect the warmer season.
  - We only have a riding lawn mower and a push mower in the garage, along with a few rakes and a chainsaw. 
  -  The property is located in north central Wisconsin, and there may be ticks in the grass. While it's impossible to completely eliminate them, we do mow the grass regularly to minimize their presence. We also recommend using tick repellents for added protection.
  - We have owned the property since last October and haven't encountered any issues with mice. We'll continue to monitor the situation to ensure our guests' comfort and safety.
  - We apologize for any inconvenience caused by clothes and toiletries in the drawers. As new hosts, we were aiming to create a welcoming environment for our guests, and we'll take your feedback into consideration.
