    5/5

We wanted a unique, peaceful, comfortable, and enjoyable stay…we got all that and more on our visit. The scenic winding country roads getting there, the adventurous 1/4 mile drive back in time to the front door, everything we could have asked for. Any all wheel drive or 4x4 will love the terrain, just keep it slow. The century old farmhouse came well appointed with all the necessities, we just provided the groceries. It’s a quirky, endearing house, with low clearance doorways, at 6’2 my hubby had to remember to duck 😂. The modern updates do not take away from its history, but rather mesh near seamlessly. It’s Bassett hound approved by our Ruggar , who appreciated the bowls and toys, cuz ‘mom & dad’ forgot to pack those. Our super hosts Jessie & Matt were absolutely wonderful, answering all questions, helping us locate the 🧻 TP, and making our week away truly memorable. Nature at its finest, from the babbling river, to the birdsong…serenity nestled on 18acres. Our favorite excursion was driving the length of the Back of the Dragon from Tazewell to Marion on SR16. We highly recommend our hosts, and staying in their beautiful century old home. Get off the beaten path, travel back in time, refresh your soul.

  • Peace & Quiet

    4/5

We enjoyed the peace & quiet tranquility this location offerred. It rained the whole time but sitting on the covered porch & opening up the windows was so soothing as we listening to the creek & rain. However, there were a lot of dust & cobwebs on baskets, window screens, etc that we had to remove before the baby touched them. The driveway was atrocious. We were warned to have 4WD but the huge river rocks, holes in the dirt, & no gravel had us fearing a punctured tire at any moment. If the long drive was graveled or paved smooth, we'd come back in a heartbeat.
