    5/5

We were coming to Utah to celebrate the marriage of one of our grandsons. Since our son and his family live in West Jordan, we focused our search for a hotel in the West Jordan/South Jordan area. We have typically stayed in the West Jordan Hampton Inn and the South Jordan Springhill Suites. Unfortunately (or not), this was the same weekend as the BYU Graduation, so hotels up and down the front range were at or very near capacity. This drove us to consider a "Shared Property" for our stay.

Our experience could not have been better (except the weather could have cooperated; but I'll tell you more about that in a moment). We contacted the host in advance because we were on a flight that got in late on the first night. The hosts' (Satya and Lilian) response was prompt, complete, and comforting. Since the basement apartment has a separate outdoor entrance, they assured us that our late arrival would not disturb them. They sent us further instructions on how to enter the apartment (lockbox and key), where to park (only a short walk away from the door), how to use the parking pass, etc. Anytime I texted a question, I received a reply almost immediately.

The apartment was exactly as described in the Evolve listing. It is very quiet and separated from the main home upstairs. The neighborhood is quiet and close to shopping. Many amenities were provided, certainly all that were in the listing, as well as some that weren't. The tin of cookies and the bag of microwave popcorn were a nice touch. There were plenty of towels, and soap, shampoo, and conditioner are in dispensers in the shower. We really wanted for nothing, well . . ., except for one thing . . .

I mentioned earlier that the weather could have been more cooperative. The wedding was on Friday, and I got a text that morning from Satya basically saying, "Hey, we notice the forecast for today is for a pretty high probability of rain; we have an extra umbrella, if you'd like to borrow it." I never carry an umbrella, but I'm glad I swallowed my pride and accepted his offer. We walked out of the Saratoga Springs Temple just as it was beginning to rain. Soon, the rain got harder and harder, followed by some pea-sized hail. I was so happy to have that borrowed umbrella with us, and so grateful that our hosts had been so thoughtful! Who does that?

As I told Satya on our departure, when we come back again (as we often do), I will be sure to check the apartment availability before I even look for a hotel. Thanks!
