The house is isolated, which is what we were looking for. From the pictures, it looks like the house is well cared for and newish. However, the yard was severely overgrown. We brought our 2 small dogs, and they couldn’t see over the grass. My daughter is allergic to fire ants, and they were all over the yard. There is no walkway from where you park the car to the house, so we had no option but walk through the overgrown yard to the house. When we pulled up, we thought it was an abandoned house and we were at the wrong place.
The kids found 6 dead scorpions around the house. Some bugs I would expect to find being out in the country, but wasn’t expecting to find dead scorpions all over the house.
We had every intention of getting past all of that, but the beds are horrible. The queen bed downstairs is the one we slept in, and you can feel the wood slates under the mattress because there is no boxspring.
Our girls complained about the king bed in the loft as it also did not have a box spring and a very thin mattress. The only person who didn’t complain about the beds was our autistic son, who is nonverbal. But when we went to strip his bed (as this is one of the checkout requests), we saw that his twin mattress had a very severe dip in it. The owners folded a comforter into the dip of the mattress and put the sheets over it - so unless you lay on it, you wouldn’t feel it.
We won’t be staying here again, mainly due to bed issues.
