  • Gorgeous view but safety concerns

    3/5

Property has a beautiful view but lacks cleanliness, bugs everywhere. The grill was filthy. The garage has hundreds of dead crickets and smells so strongly of death and that decay we could not go out there. The handrail to the second floor is barely hanging on and we were concerned it would break if anyone tripped or grabbed it too hard. The stairs outside have an unsteady handrail and will definitely break soon. The upstairs balcony rail is loose and definitely not safe. The balcony has this weird area where you can access the roof and potentially fall, children should not be out there. The listing mentions stairs to get to dock but it does not state how steep the stays are and there are 75 stairs to get down there. To put in context, the neighbors have a tram to get down there. We enjoyed the dock but be warned if you have mobility issues. We enjoyed our stay but these safety concerns should be addressed.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Kristan, we want our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we apologize you experienced some issues during your trip. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
    - Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We’re delighted that you enjoyed the beautiful views and your stay overall, but we are genuinely concerned about the issues you mentioned, as they do not reflect the standards we maintain at our property.
    - Regarding cleanliness, it is surprising to hear about the condition of the grill and the garage, especially since our cleaning team ensures that these areas are thoroughly addressed between every guest stay. We strive to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and would have been more than happy to send a team over to address any concerns had they been brought to our attention during your stay.
    - As for the crickets and the smell in the garage, our cleaning crew confirmed that the space was freshly swept prior to your arrival.
    - With respect to the safety concerns you raised about the handrails and the balcony, we take these claims seriously. Our team has inspected the property, and I can confirm that all handrails, both inside and outside, meet safety standards.
    - Regarding the balcony, it is built to code, but we understand your concern about children accessing it. We encourage all guests to closely supervise children in any area of elevated height.
    - Finally, the stairs leading down to the dock are described clearly in the listing, as we make every effort to ensure our guests are fully informed about the nature of the property, particularly those with mobility concerns. We mention the steepness of the stairs in multiple sections of the listing, including the FAQ section and house rules, and we also provide photos to give a visual understanding.
We value guest feedback and continuously strive to improve the experience we offer.
Thanks for taking the time to leave your review.

  • Family weekend

    4/5

The location was quiet. The description doesn't mention that the bedroom with the twin beds is only accessible through another bedroom. The dishwasher racks were broken making the dishwasher unusable. There was also pet hair in the living room.

  • Great place- fun

    4/5

The views of the lake are really maximized. Lots of places to be within the house. Several rooms 2 patios 3 fire pits.

I think I underestimated the amount of stairs. Yes the listing was clear but it was much steeper than I expected. The stairs could use better lighting for dusk. The dock/boat slip area could be easily improved with rope lighting in the boat slip patio area.

The oven did not cook evenly. Burned our breakfast. The gas tanks for the grill were empty and sadly were not replaced when asked. The dishwasher was broken and difficult to use. The skillets were not usable. BUT we were not there for those things. We were there for the fishing and family time. So … mission accomplished. Just wish the minor inconveniences were corrected.

Great place. Cute outside and in. Nice set up and lay out. Beautiful view. Caught a lot of catch and release fish. Great memories made.

  • Lake house stay

    5/5

We had a marvelous time. We were also all able to experience the total eclipse while we were there. The house was spacious and clean. Although the older people were unable to go fishing ( there are 80 steep steps to get to the dock) we had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying ourselves. It was a great place to stay. Perfect for our family of ten. The kids just loved the game room too!!! Thank you for a memorable family trip.
