    1. Location was perfect for our needs.

    2. The front door does not meet the threshold. You can see daylight under the door. This was mentioned in a previous review and has not been repaired.

    3. The floor in the living area has a soft spot just past the stair landing. We're lucky someone didn't fall through the floor.

    4. Furniture throughout the house has mismatched pieces and some of them are out of style, i.e., Early American (bedroom #2) or wrong style (living area, dining area, master bedroom).

    5. Pictures of the house showed recliners, but they were not working and there was no mention of their dysfunction. This was important for our needs.

    6. The dining chairs do not go with the table and sit too low.

    7. There is an upright freezer between the dining area and the kitchen - looks out of place.

    8. The kitchen sink has visible paint spatter in both sides.

    9. The sunroom isn't usable because every time it rains, the ceiling leaks in multiple places.

    10. The backyard doesn't match the pictures - it needs manicuring.

    11. The mattress on the king size bed is terrible. I got up with a backache every day.

    12. The master shower was filthy - walls, doors and soap dish.

    13. The guest bathtub was nasty - there was a plastic mat in the bottom that was mildewed.

    14. The pillows in bedroom #2 were flat - not usable.

    All-in-all, we were not very comfortable and would never book this house again.

    Manager's Response:

    From the owner:
    -We apologize for the gap under the front door. We have upgraded the door sweep to eliminate this issue. Please note, the door may now require a slight push due to the friction of the new sweep.
    -The house is built on a pier and beam structure, which may cause some areas of the floor to feel softer. However, there is no risk of falling through the floor.
    -The furniture in the house is as depicted in the photos. We understand that decor preferences vary.
    -While the listing does not mention functioning recliners, we regret any inconvenience this may have caused.
    -The dining chairs and bench were purchased with the table and are standard-sized.
    -The upright freezer was provided in response to guest requests for additional storage during hurricane recovery efforts. It will be removed once the recovery is complete.
    -Regarding the paint spatter in the sink, we apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, as you pointed out, it is a permanent issue and we will not be able to address it. However, we want to assure you that it does not affect the functionality of the sink and it is safe to use.
    -The sunroom roof was damaged in a recent hurricane, causing leaks. Repairs are scheduled as soon as a roofing crew is available.
    -The backyard is maintained bi-weekly.

    We appreciate your feedback and are taking steps to address each concern.

  • Nice that it’s in town but that’s about it

    Had major issues with person/people staying in other side of house. It was obviously built originally as one house not too so walks are thin and no bathroom downstairs. Washer didn’t work so we had to go outside into back of the part of house outside (no AC in July) to do wash (didn’t let us know this so housekeeper apparently had all towels in Washer that was broken so we had no towels to shower the first night). Freezer on refrigerator didn’t work. Had domestic disturbance issue outside of house first night (people from other part of house) and when I contacted owner he didn’t seem to care. Front door seal at threshold gone so living room smelled like smoke every time neighbor when outside to sit and smoke (we unfortunately shared porch and he also left cigarettes outside at perfect disposal to my child, thank god I never take my eyes off him!) Got an house so that my son would have the backyard to play in, well it was overgrown and had ant piles so we didn’t get to use the yard and couldn’t play on enclosed porch since it’s so hot in summer.

    We loving staying in VRBOs but this one was the first time ever we were disappointed. I sent a message to owner when we got home and seemed to shrug it all off so if you want a place that this really taken care of with pride, I’d go elsewhere.

    Evolve is suppose to be managing this property but they are slacking!

    Hi Megan, we want our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we apologize you experienced some issues during your trip. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
    - The guest in the other unit kept late hours, but video footage shows no loud disturbances or fighting. We responded promptly to your notification and advised you to contact us again if the issue continued, but we didn't receive further communication.
    - We’re exploring creative solutions to ensure that each unit has privacy and isn’t affected by noise from the neighboring space.
    - As indicated in our listing, the home doesn't have a bathroom downstairs.
    - The washer stopped working due to a power outage. We scheduled repairs for July 17th, which were delayed to the 18th. You were informed and agreed to the new schedule. We provided access to an alternate washer and dryer and acknowledged the laundry left in the non-working washer. Additional assistance was offered but was declined.
    - The refrigerator fan also failed due to the power outage, but we provided a new refrigerator/freezer and deep freezer as replacements. Repairs were completed on July 18th, and you were kept updated throughout the process.
    - Recent hurricane damage affected property maintenance, including the yard. Mowing was rescheduled for July 21st, and we informed you of this.
    - The front door seal at the threshold was damaged by the hurricane, and we're actively working to repair it.
    - We appreciate your feedback on the porch. Unfortunately, the summer heat is beyond our control.
    We appreciate your feedback so we can continue to improve. We hope to host you again soon.
