Scott, we want to make vacation rental easy for everyone, and we're sorry that you experienced some issues during your stay. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
"Hi Scott, I’m saddened by this review and your experience.
-The smells come from the paper mill, and if the wind is blowing just right, you can detect the sulfur smell associated with the mill. We provide an air purifier, as well as a ScentHD device to help with any mill smell that comes into the home.
-We're glad you enjoyed the views but we apologize for the condition of the community pool's restroom. The toilet at the community pool was apparently clogged and while outside of our control, we're sincerely sorry that impacted your stay. Our homeowner's association is working diligently to complete our pool renovation. This will not be a problem in the future. I’m so sorry that you had to deal with that unfortunate mishap. Hopefully, you will visit us again in the future."Great view and hospitality!
5/5 The home was beautiful and well furnished. The nice welcome gift was a plus and the provided toiletries great as well. View of the lake and having a covered boat slip was very nice as we traveled with a boat. The steps to the boat slip are very steep and do not have a hand rail but were not a problem for us but if you have problems with stairs just be aware. Overall a great place an I hope we can get back soon!!

Family getaway
5/5 We had a great time on our trip. The house was very spacious and very comfortable. The bottom floor was perfect for my boys to hang out.
