• Rough week in New Tazewell

  Our stay was disappointing to stay the least. The only reason we booked this home, knowing it had a lot of stairs, was because of the lift for assistance. We had a few guests that were older and needed the assistance and we also had children that the lift would be helpful for. The lift did not work for more than half our stay. It did not work upon arrival which means it was not checked before we arrived. If someone had checked to see that it was working, they could have had the issue fixed much sooner. As I understand that things happen that are not within the owner’s control, but we felt compensation would make sense given that it inhibited our vacation. We were so bummed because it is a beautiful cabin but was overshadowed by not being maintained properly. Most issues are easily fixable. I have also listed all the other issues with the home below.

  - Lift did not work for over half of the trip.

  - A/C upstairs went out and was a simple fix, but no one was sent out until the next day, so we had to sleep downstairs on the floor and couches.

  - The downstairs doors don’t lock (we followed all instructions and were able to lock other doors that functioned the same way)

  - Cable/Satellite did not work for the duration.

  - We could not find enough shower towels and on the second day we found a ton of towels in the dryer, still soaking wet.

  - The shower floor mat downstairs was very wet and molded underneath.

  - The bottom oven under the stove does not work.

  - Half of the four-slot toaster doesn’t stay down, and the handle is broken.

  - The pull-out couch in the basement doesn’t pull out.

  - Could not find any sheets for either pull out couch.

  - The handle of the kitchen faucet was broken off so we had to just operate it with the nub where the handle should attach.

  - One of the tall chairs on the back deck is broken.

  - Floor drain in the master shower isn’t attached to the floor.

  - There is a floorboard downstairs that is lifted, that we kept tripping over.

  - Several other very small annoyances.

  We won't stay here again.

  Hi Cynthia, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
  - The lift was functioning properly for the previous guests who checked out that morning, but we regret that it stopped working during your stay. We were able to get a technician out on the day you reported the issue, although it unfortunately took until Wednesday to fully repair it.
  - The A/C upstairs did malfunction, and while we arranged for a technician to come out the next morning, we apologize for any inconvenience this caused.
  - We have confirmed that all downstairs doors should lock following the provided instructions. We'll re-evaluate this to ensure they are functioning as expected.
  - The property does have cable and Wi-Fi, and we verified that all systems were operational before your stay. We will double-check these amenities to prevent future issues.
  - We offer a generous supply of towels for our guests. We're sorry some were left in the dryer; we'll ensure our cleaning team checks this more thoroughly in the future.
  - The downstairs shower mat has been replaced, and the area has been thoroughly cleaned.
  - The home features three ovens, and while one is currently out of order, the other two should suffice for cooking needs.
  - We have verified that the pull-out couch in the basement is functioning properly.
  - We provide sheets for all pull-out couches and will ensure they are clearly accessible for future guests.
  - The handle of the kitchen faucet has been repaired.
  - The broken chair on the back deck has been removed for safety.
  - The master shower floor drain has been secured properly.
  - The lifted floorboard downstairs has been fixed to prevent any tripping hazards.

• Great stay at On The Rocks

  Everything was wonderful. Plenty of space for 7 adults to get away and a beautiful property with a nice view. Plenty of spaces to relax and having the lift for folks to get down to the dock was a game changer. Thanks for letting us stay!

• Great Spot tucked away!

  We enjoyed our stay! The reviews were right about the drive to get to the house! The nice thing is the road is in good shape just up and down and around the mountain! Would not recommended hauling a boat up there, but there was a nice place to park boat trailers! Luckily this house had a lift! Unlike most houses, the newly installed lift was SO NICE! We used it way more than I thought! We are already planning on another trip back to this house!

  Amazing property! Very remote and secluded. Enjoyed are time! About a 45 minute drive from town in the mountains definitely need to make sure you have everything packed with you for food and drink, not an easy ride! But the drive was amazing scenery.

• Great Get Away

  This was a beautiful home plus awesome view! Everything was nice, beds comfy, bathrooms have a sauna feel to them and the night time sky is breathtaking! Hot tub on the deck was very nice also! The decks are so nice that you will start having ideas for your home ha. Be prepared to take your groceries up on the first trip up. It’s a 25 min drive up to go 4 miles. Some steep areas and lots of curves of coarse. Once you get there you will want to stay and get cozy! If fishing don’t forget the bait ! Pretty steep stairs to the nice dock but great exercise! Not many restaurants so plan on cooking! Have fun, it’s all about the memories… we aren’t promised tomorrow so make them today!
