This is a good location and the grounds are nice. The house is very worn. Furniture and Kitchen very old and worn. Propane heater in main bedroom blows right on bed so you are hot or cold.
Towels and linens are stiff and do not smell fresh. Probably ok for a 1-2 night stay in the summer but early October was cold at night and the cabin felt cold. A manual propane heater was in kitchen but no thermostat so you had to turn off and on. Price is ok just be aware what you are getting. Only bath is in main cabin.

Hi Randall, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
- The listing does state that this property is a rugged and rustic cabin, but we are sorry if this caught you off guard. We encourage guests to thoroughly review the listing before booking, to ensure they find the perfect vacation home for their needs.
- The cabin was built in the same era that Mount Rushmore was being carved. This rustic property is a unique historical cabin in a very private, centralized location, in the center of most of Black Hills' local attractions.
- The towels and linens are always fresh and clean. I apologize that the towels felt stiff. This is because I dry them on a clothesline. October starts to have cool nights so we have an electric fireplace and a propane heater so our guests can rest easy.
- I’m truly sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay and weren’t prepared for a rustic environment. While we do regret our cabin was not up to your expectations, we are happy to share that no issues were reported by the guests who stayed the following weekend.
- Thank you for sharing your review. Your feedback assists us in understanding our guests' perspectives and improving wherever possible.
Great property. Great location. Very secluded. Host was very polite and helpful. Need a few things updated but everything works.
The cabin was exactly what we were looking for during our visit to the Black Hills! It was private and secluded and we felt the kids could be as loud as they wanted. They especially loved the bunnies and chickens and even named them! I wanted to stay and live there. Beautiful area and we saw so many deer, what a delight! Linda was a wonderful host and the sweetest person you’ll meet. She was fast to respond. We loved getting to know her. Wish we could’ve had more time! If privacy and a rustic cabin feel is what your looking for, this is the place for you!

This was our second stay at this cabin. We absolutely LOVE this property! I would highly recommend it for a quiet, peaceful space as a great place to unwind after a busy day touristing. This property is within 10 minutes of Mt Rushmore and Keystone. Also very close to Rapid City and Crazy Horse.
This is a wonderful place to relax and unwind. Our kids had a great time just running and playing outside! Any concerns we had Linda (the host) was on it quickly. I highly recommend this property!
If you are looking for a place to escape from all the worlds chaos, you need to stay here to get the jump start you need! This is our second stay and we just feel so much closer as a family and look forward to coming back! Linda is just the Best and a Bonus to staying at this beautiful cabin!
