Spacious Charleston Home: Only 3 Mi to Folly Beach

  Home was clean, plenty of beds as advertised. Kitchen was well stocked. Only about 15-20 minutes from downtown Charleston and a short drive to Folly beach. Awesome location. Would stay again.

  This home was not as expected. When we entered the home it was very dark and dreary-very different from the pictures on the website. As we moved through the home we found many other issues that were unsatisfactory to us. In the kitchen all the silverware and dishes were dirty so we had to run everything through the dishwasher prior to use. The pots and pans were in rough shape with the non-stick lining peeling off making them unsafe to use. There were leftover rusted cans of food in the kitchen cupboard. The oven, toaster, air fryer, freezer were filthy. There was hot air blasting out of the vents in the kitchen every day even though we had the air conditioning on. I texted the owner about this issue and did not get a response. The mattress in the master bed room was broken down and very uncomfortable. The shower spray hose was leaky and there was some unidentified green goo running down the side of the bathroom vanity. As in the kitchen, the heat was blasting in the bathroom as well. Throughout the home many of the lamps were without light bulbs and multiple lamps weren't plugged in. There is a coin operated washer and dryer that were dirty. The coin operation on the washer was very difficult to operate. We had anticipated spending time on the side porch but were unable as the side porch was also dirty with stained carpets throughout. There was an outside grill and pot for boiling. Unfortunately the pot was full of slimy water and dead frogs. The home was located at the end of a private road. I understand the owner is not responsible for his neighbors. however one neighbors property was basically a junk yard with rusted vehicles and trash littering the property. Toward the end of the week the neighbor dumped fish heads and fish guts in a drainage ditch close enough to the house that the odor was unbearable. We called and spoke with several staff from Evolve who were sympathetic but not helpful. I also spoke with the owner who rambled on and on about the house being old. He also told me that there were renters in before us so the cleaners didn't have enough time to complete a deep clean-not my issue! He also compared his house to a two star hotel and said that most people were satisfied with that because of the location of the home being close to the beach. The owner did offer to have a cleaning team come in but we declined as we didn't want our vacation to continue being disrupted. The owner refunded half the cleaning fee. We will not be back!!!

  Upper level restroom was stuck.

  Screens porch very dirty , look like no body sweep.

  All door mess up very bad.

  Washer and dryer need to install directions how to use it.

  Some of the chairs outside was in bad condition need to change it.

  Everything else is good.

• Loved the backyard!

  Our family of 10 stayed here and we had plenty of space for littles to run around. They loved the backyard. Even with the drive to the house, once there, we felt secluded. I’m not sure that the host can control the neighbors yards which is what many mention in the reviews. I know some mentioned lack of safety for older guests and we were more concerned for the toddlers navigating stairs, different step up and step downs. Think this rental would be better suited for older kids or those not traveling with elderly.

  -The home was originally built in 1945 and has had several additions over the years, including a downstairs master bedroom and a large den, which resulted in some step-ups and stair areas.
  -Due to these features, the homeowner agrees that the property is better suited for older kids and adults who are comfortable navigating these areas. We understand that it might not be ideal for families with toddlers, elderly guests, or those with mobility concerns.
