Our family of 10 stayed here and we had plenty of space for littles to run around. They loved the backyard. Even with the drive to the house, once there, we felt secluded. I’m not sure that the host can control the neighbors yards which is what many mention in the reviews. I know some mentioned lack of safety for older guests and we were more concerned for the toddlers navigating stairs, different step up and step downs. Think this rental would be better suited for older kids or those not traveling with elderly.
Hi Karen, thank you for your thoughtful review. We're glad to hear that your family had plenty of space and enjoyed the backyard, especially for the little ones to run around. The secluded feel of the property is something many of our guests love, and we're happy it added to your experience. The homeowner wanted to provide a bit of background:
-The home was originally built in 1945 and has had several additions over the years, including a downstairs master bedroom and a large den, which resulted in some step-ups and stair areas.
-Due to these features, the homeowner agrees that the property is better suited for older kids and adults who are comfortable navigating these areas. We understand that it might not be ideal for families with toddlers, elderly guests, or those with mobility concerns.
We appreciate your understanding and are glad you enjoyed the overall space and seclusion. Thank you again for sharing your feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future!
We stayed at this house over the 4th of July weekend. When we arrived, the area right outside of the house had tall grass and several pieces of trash outside. Assessing more of the outside, the grill was mostly rusted, some of the outdoor patio furniture was torn and unsteady, and there were areas in the yard with several pieces of animal feces.Upon entry into the house, the first thing we noticed was the storm door handle was broken. To our surprise, the furniture in the sun room mirrored the outdoor furniture with rips and holes rendering them unsafe to sit. Exploring further, the bathrooms were filthy. There were dead bugs in the window seal, a few embedded in the rugs with stains, and tubs and showers were not clean. Unfortunately, we had to clean them ourselves with bleach and other cleaning products to sanitize them. Additionally, the downstairs bathroom leaked water which extended into the hallway outside.Furthermore, we were unable to control the thermostat ourselves. We had to contact the owner and ask him to reduce the temperature from his end. Another concern to address was the occupancy. It was listed that the home accommodated up to 15 people to which we had 12 in our reservation. We did not have enough towels for everyone so the owner suggested that we wash and reuse amongst ourselves. However, the laundry facilities in the home required money to even access. We understood it was an older home, but it was not at all well-kept. This was far from the guest experience we hoped for especially given the rate to reserve.

Location rating is only because of condition of neighborhood, otherwise would be a 5-star
House has some minor problems (i.e. upstairs bathroom drain clogged).
Communication with owner never happened, no need. Rating requires entry.
House has many levels, many of them only 2-3 inches. Proved to be a problem for me due to age (80+) and restricted mobility.
