We were in town for Ironman 70.3 NC and it was in the perfect location for all of the various points on the course! The house was well kept and cozy, and the backyard was a great space for all of our gear (and also a fantastic open-air office for me to get work done).

The house was beautiful and a great location, close to the beach. The house was well equipped, and had everything you need however, there was an issue. We arrived at the house about 10 o’clock at night. There wasn’t a lot of lights to locate the house. After settling in we noticed a bed crawling up the white couch.
I called the owner that night and received the voice mail. The next day, I’ll call the owner again and informed him that there was a bedbug on the couch. The owner was very upset with me and told me that it was not a bedbug. I stated to him I took a picture of it and I googled it, and Google said it was. The owner stated that he keeps his property clean so there’s no way it could’ve been a bedbug. I stated to him that may be so, but there are a lot of people who are unsanitary and it may have been the person that were here before us that just checked out that brought them to the house. He was very rude and it made me upset. He made me feel like I was lying so I said to him we took pictures and I’d send it to his phone.
After sending it, he then stated that he would give me my money back for the one day if I checked out within an hour. I told him that I had an elderly person with me who could not walk without assistance and I also had some older ladies with me so one hour will not be enough time for me to find somewhere to stay and get them out quickly. I also explained to him that my money will not be returned the same day, so I was unable to find another place in such a short notice.
He sent someone over with some Lysol and bedbug spray and I sprayed the couch down. No one sat on the couch for the duration of the trip, however when we got home my spiritual mom who slept in the main bedroom, said that her arms were itching really bad and became painful. She had to go to the doctor to get her arms checked out because she didn’t know what was wrong. They said it was bedbug bites
We made the best of the stay the way it was handled was a bit rude up until I sent the picture to the owner of what was on the couch. I wouldn’t even have given this place a negative review until my spiritual mom told me she went to the hospital to be checked out and she’s in her 80’s.
I was a bit disappointed at how the owners handled the situation when I first called him. He was very unpleasant and made me feel like I was trying to get over on him. I’m glad that we had pictures of it cause he told me basically that there was no bed bugs and I said otherwise.

- We take pest control seriously, and our property undergoes regular professional pest treatments inside and outside the home.
- The pest control technician inspected the home thoroughly the day after your stay and found no evidence of bedbugs. The insect you photographed was identified as a harmless ground beetle, which is common in the coastal area.
- For health and safety reasons, bedbug covers are used on all beds, and the home is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between guest stays, with all bedding and towels laundered professionally.
- We did offer the option to refund your first night if you felt uncomfortable and needed to vacate, although we understand relocating would have been difficult given your circumstances.
We appreciate you sharing your experience, and the homeowner will continue to ensure their property remains well-maintained for future guests. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review!

We loved this home. It fit us perfectly. It was very conveniently located to everything and had all of the amenities we needed. We will definitely stay here again!
