During our stay, the outside temps were often in the single digits...unusually cold even for this area. The max setting on the thermostat was 74, which meant the main level was tolerable, the upstairs master was toasty, and the finished basement was almost uninhabitable...too cold to relax or sleep comfortably.
The gas log furnace in the basement den has no chimney or exhaust pipe to evacuate the buildup of fumes and CO2 that occurs once you turn it on. It is certainly not anything one should leave on all night as a heat source. If one reads the welcome/instructions letter from the owners, you are cautioned to "crack a window", which obviously defeats the purpose and allows cold air to enter the space.
The bedding was so firm and hard (with the exception of 1 bed on the main floor bedroom) it was difficult to sleep comfortably in the master suite king upstairs. Memory foam, or whatever the mattress material is, must be an acquired taste - one with which we had no familiarity, and after becoming familiar with it, no desire to ever sleep on it again.
The gas cooktop had to be lit with a lighter (provided) as the electric/spark igniters aren't working.
Great location and potential. The bottle of "two buck Chuck" wine was surprisingly decent.
Hi Joe, we value providing an excellent experience for our guests, and we would like to share some insights from the homeowner:
-Firstly, it's important to note that we cannot control the external temperature, and there is no maximum setting on the thermostat to regulate it.
-Regarding the gas kitchen burners, they are in proper working order. However, it's possible that some guests may not be familiar with operating a gas stove.
-While we take guest feedback seriously, we have never received complaints about mattresses in the past, so it's challenging for us to address this particular issue.
-The bottom level features an unvented gas-freestanding fireplace with clear usage instructions, emphasizing the need to keep a window cracked open for ventilation. Although it's compliant with code, operates on gas, and requires minimal oxygen, it's crucial to maintain airflow by keeping a window open at all times .It's conceivable that the guest may not have fully understood or adhered to this instruction.
-Moreover, we wish to emphasize that the freestanding gas fireplace efficiently heats the entire first floor. In fact, it produces significant warmth, often necessitating adjustments to its settings, despite the need to keep a window cracked open.
-As part of our hospitality, we always leave a bottle of wine for our guests to enjoy during their stay.
-In summary, while we strive to provide the best possible experience for all our guests, it's important to acknowledge that individual preferences and experiences may vary. We appreciate your understanding.
Our commitment to providing the best possible experience for all our guests is evident in the satisfaction of numerous others who have stayed with us.
We loved this house! Very nice touches throughout and awesome that it was decorated for Christmas! Only two things that would possibly improve it is more seating on the main level and if the hot tub was working. That aside this house is awesome and we’d stay there again for sure!

From the owner: "I am so sorry to hear that you were unable to enjoy the brand new hot tub during your stay. The hot tub is brand new and was working fine. I wish you had called me for assistance. The amenities listed on the Evolve were not up-to-date, and I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused. We hope to have you back!"
Was a beautiful cabin and close to everything.

We were disappointed to find that the hot tub was broken during our stay (which we didn’t find out about until after the cancellation deadline. I never heard back regarding what could be done to accommodate us cost wise since that was a main reason for renting the house.
The house didn’t feel super clean. There is a heavy musty smell upon entering the basement. It didn’t seem as though the deck is ever swept or the rails wiped…there were very aged spider webs (while I realize that is an exterior area, it was clear the webs never get taken care of). The coffee pot still had the previous renters grounds in it. We never used that pot for that reason. There was a broken glass left in the cupboard as well, so it just didn’t feel like the cleaning company is very thorough.
Evolve isn’t super swift about responding either. I’d much rather deal directly with a homeowner than a company.
Hi Jill, thanks for taking the time to review your stay. After reading your feedback, the homeowner wanted to share the following:
- As mentioned in the listing, the hot tub was out of service. However, we installed a brand-new one in August. We're sorry if this caught you by surprise.
- We haven't been made aware of any cleaning issues. However, we'll check with our cleaning crew to ensure the chalet is meticulously cleaned every time.
- Being situated in the mountains amidst lush trees, the deck does tend to accumulate leaves, even when swept regularly. We apologize if this affected your experience.
- We want to assure you there's no musty smell in the basement. If this was an issue, we would have addressed it immediately.
Once again, thank you for sharing your review with us.
