  Our family of four enjoyed our first trip to Bear Lake. We enjoyed playing Pickleball, the pool, and renting boats at the marina. The house was very nice and clean.

• House Had No Water

  I have held off in reviewing my family's recent stay because I had hoped the owner of the house and/or Evolve would make this situation right....but since I have received no response from Evolve after numerous times of trying to contact--here is my review.

  After checking in at the front gate, we were informed the house we were staying at was on a street that had no water at the moment. They assured us they were working on it and hoped to have it back on soon. With hope that it would be back on by the next day we decided to stay the night. It briefly came back on the following morning but then went out again....this was the same story day after day during our stay. We continued to stay hoping it would come back on, since we had reserved the house for a week. We also have two small children and we had packed and planned for a week's stay and it is not easy to just change plans last minute. We drove 5 hours to get there.

  The property manager who works for the owner of the house was not the easiest to deal with. He was unfriendly and not very helpful. After a few days of no water, I finally spoke with someone at Evolve and they were helpful in contacting the owner and trying to negotiate a refund. However, since we have left Evolve has been very unresponsive. We were only credited back 25% cost of our stay and any nights not stayed. I do not believe this is a fair refund. Not having running water means no showers, washing hands, faces and brushing teeth by pouring water out of a jug. Having to fill the toilet up every time you need to flush, no cooking or cleaning of dishes in the kitchen, etc. This was our family's one trip this year that we saved up money for, planned for months, and looked forward to. You expect the small luxuries of taking a hot shower at the end of the day, washing your face with warm water, etc.--especially with the cost of this house.

  All we have been offered is $250 to come back and stay at this property. I do not want to stay at this property again due to the location within the resort--it is a 20 minute drive from all the amenities. The well system this house is on needs to be replaced otherwise this will happen again. And lastly due to the poor treatment/communication of the property manager and owner. We were told by several home owners within Bear Lake this happened around the 4th of July as well. We should have been informed of this before our stay and given the chance to cancel. I would not recommend staying at this house.

  Hi April, we’re genuinely sorry to hear about the challenges you faced during your stay. We take feedback like yours very seriously, and after discussing the situation with the homeowner, they wanted to provide some clarity:
  - The water outage was an unexpected issue that arose just hours before your arrival. The resort management assured us that the water would be restored shortly, but unfortunately, the repairs took longer than anticipated. We understand how frustrating this was, especially with small children.
  - To help mitigate the situation, the greeter cottage provided you with water upon check-in, and the resort delivered additional water to your house for essential needs. The clubhouse was also made available 24/7 for showers and meals.
  - When it became clear that the issue might persist, we offered to relocate you to another property with a refund for the nights not stayed, which you declined. We respected your decision to stay.
  - Ultimately you left one day early, ironically the day the water was completely fixed. We worked with Evolve to secure a 25% refund of your stay plus a full refund for any unused nights. The homeowner advocated for an increased offer of 50%, though it appears this offer was not communicated effectively.
  We do all we can within our control to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.

• Wonderful stay in Tuckasegee

  We had a lovely time in the mountains for Memorial Day weekend. The house was fantastic-super clean and well appointed for our stay. We loved the screened in porch and listening to the creek below. The firepit was an added bonus and the owners had everything needed for it. The drive to the lake club takes about 15-20 minutes and look out for bears! We saw a big black bear on the first night on the way to the lake club. We cooked in two nights and ate at the lake club one night. The activities on the lake are varied and there is something for everyone. We drove to Cashiers and did the Foothills trail loop hike (5 miles) and saw some gorgeous waterfalls. This stay was perfect for us....time away in a relaxing spot to make memories and relax. We highly recommend and hope to come back!
