We stayed at this home while visiting my parents who live in the community and this home was ideal. The house was in pristine condition and beautiful. The hot tub was great even though it was record heat the week we were there. We would definitely recommend it and we will look to stay here in the future.

The property is beautiful but it ended up being far less than we hoped for. While the homeowner was very responsive via text there was not much that could be done about our experience.
The entry code was incorrect. Had the homeowner not been reachable we would have been locked out of the property.
No washcloths. It was late so we went out and bought our own. Housekeeping did drop off some washcloths a little later that night but we had already made our purchase. Housekeeping also delivered additional towels and washcloths the next day but some were dirty with stains and sticky substances.
Clogged shower/tub drain, in addition a shower handle that was almost falling off (we repaired both.) The tub was so clogged that by the end of your shower you were standing in water ankle deep. The homeowner offered to send a repairman the next day but since this is the only bathroom we had access to we bought Draino and made due.
The listing shows a beautiful TV with surround sound but we couldn’t finish one show without it shutting off. When I inquired the homeowner said internet is slow in St. James and that may be why. There is no cable, only streaming available. Therefore, the TV was rendered unusable for our entire stay. If you are working remotely be mindful of the internet issues.
The listing tells you to specifically drink the water from dispenser located in the refrigerator but the filter is expired. We ended up buying our own water.
Rear security camera points at the hot tub. The homeowner made us aware that there were two exterior security cameras (one out front and back). I can absolutely see the necessity but just be aware you will lack privacy.
Lights and fan not usable in the screened in hot tub area. The switches to those must be located in the master bedroom (which you do not have access to) because we could not find the switches anywhere.
No access to any pool on St. James property. The listing indicates there is a community pool but be aware that is located on Oak Island. The information for this is nowhere on the listing or on the paperwork by the front door. We had to text the home owner to request the passcode to access the community pool on Oak Island (which we were only aware of because we have stayed at other properties in St. James). In the past we have been able to use the parking lot but according to the homeowner guests no longer have access to it. Keep in mind that there are only a couple parking spots along the road so you will likely be walking quite a distance.
These were the larger issues we had; when you add those to some of the smaller details we felt unwelcome. The shower had a cheap plastic curtain that when you pulled closed the hooks would pop off. The beautiful sectional couch shown in the photos had been covered with blankets that were tucked into the cushions to keep us from sitting on the actual couch. The nice deck space outside is one you have to set up. There is no rug, the cushions are off all the furniture and you have to pull them in and out. At this price range we expected much better.
Rented this beautiful home for 5 days, and it is amazing! Everything you could want is here, beds are comfy, kitchen is state of the art! Just a short drive to the beach, very quiet neighborhood!
