  • Smelly and poorly maintained

    - cockroaches in kitchen

    - the second morning there I woke up at 9 to a shirtless man on the balcony outside my bedroom about 3 feet away from where I was lying in bed. He was fixing the balcony and had set up a ladder outside and climbed up. He could easily see through my bedroom window. No one knocked or reached out to inform us so we could close the curtains and lock the balcony doors for safety.

    - both toilets the seat/cover was falling off

    - the house was intensely humid to the point where dishes, towels, bathing suits, etc. wouldn't dry for days

    - there was a strong smell of cleaning supplies when you walk in

    - it appears to be an attempt to mask the heavy mildew smell throughout the whole house. Much worse in the bathrooms especially.

    - when we used the blender it appeared to be about 40 years old and brown gunk poured out the sides as soon as we turned it on

    - the sheets on the king size bed were the wrong size and the corners were popping off every night. Such an inexpensive fix to make the property more comfortable and they didn't bother.

    - the freezer door was broken and there were notes about closing it with both hands, etc. -- just fix it? You're charging enough for a week's stay.

    - there were additional notes about cleaning the property before leaving that were left on the coffee table but weren't included in the rental agreement

    - the beach chairs provided were badly rusted and one of them literally broke in half while I was carrying it

    -overall this home has the potential to be comfy and perfect for a small family, unfortunately the owners appear to be putting in less than the bare minimum to create a livable space and it's disappointing to spend that amount of money and show up after a long drive to a house that reeks and isn't clean or comfortable

    Miranda, Our goal is to make sure all of our guests have a great time in our home. We would like to comment and clarify your issues this is the first we are hearing about most of these issues.
    - We do treat regularly for pests along with the HOA inside and outside. Unfortunately on occasion, we do have them but we are proactive to ensure they are not a usual thing
    - We apologize for the workman on the balcony, we were not notified by the HOA that they would be performing maintenance at that time. Your safety is very important to us and had we known we would have let you know ahead of time
    - We do on occasion have loose toilet seats, we have talked to the cleaner and asked that they check and tighten the seats when doing their usual routine
    - This is the first we have heard about humidity, we have the HVAC person out to check and they said everything was fine. When doors are left open it does get a little humid but that goes with the weather and location
    - Our cleaner uses only natural cleaners, no chemicals, the bathrooms have exhaust fans for the humidity
    - The blender is old but it still works very well, maybe the previous renters didn't clean it and we missed it. We will add this to the cleaning list for each visit we make
    - The king-size sheets are only a few months old and should fit fine. Had you given us a call we could have sent the cleaner over to fix this
    - The freezer door is not broken, we have a sign to close it with both hands so it closes evenly. We have checked and cannot fix it as it is a design flaw, it's a frigidaire
    - The additional notes, about cleaning the property are just a reminder to remove your refrigerator items and belongings and to take the garbage out. This is already in the check-out instructions
    - The beach chairs are kept outside on the back porch and when in the elements of nature they will rust. We have extra new chairs in the upstairs closet if one does break, these are provided as a convenience to our guests
    I will be going to the property so that I can go over everything and ensure everything is in good shape and in working order. We are confident that future guests will have excellent stays! We will continue to deliver the 5-star experiences we are known for."

    Beautiful home, clean and so convenient to beach. The beds were so comfortable. Had family from texas that fell in love with home and area. Looking forward to another visit.

  • Last Minute Trip

    We woke up Saturday morning and decided to somewhere for spring break. We knew we wanted the Emerald Isle area as we have stayed there before.

    We found this property and booked for the next day. The process from start to end was easy and quick. The property was exactly what we expected from the pictures online and we had easy access to the beach and pool. The size was perfect for one family! The kids had a blast and we look forward to our next trip to the area! Would recommend this property 100%!
