  listing can be confusing and misleading on the size of the building, the proximity of the location to the beach and other amenities/stores and such, and the location itself (listing says it’s in pineola and it’s not!) it was very confusing to find the correct location, the whole property was a maze of small roads and tight corners and the driveway was very steep and hard to deal with if you are driving a manual. first thing we had to do when we got there was kill a black hornet that was inside, the water heater didn’t work the first day/night so we had to take freezing cold showers (was told we were going to get compensated but it’s been a week and still nothing), there was blood on the front of the outside of the toilet, there was popcorn under the bed and dust that suggests that it’s never been cleaned down there, the bedroom carpet is horribly stained and the bedside table was incredibly sticky, there was shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower but they were in clear travel size bottles so you didn’t know what brand (which if you have hair like me that’s very important) and with writing that looked like a kindergartener wrote it and looked very unprofessional (thankfully I brought my own), the people who stayed before us did not take the trash out so it was already full and terribly smelly when we got there, I had moths eat a silver dollar sized hole through a piece of clothing that was in the closet (it didn’t have the hole prior to this stay), and the guest contact was not very professional at all and felt like she had an attitude. overall, I wish I looked into this place more and stayed somewhere else, would NOT stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone.

  Hi Tyler, we want all of our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we're sorry that you experienced some issues during your trip. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
  - We apologize that your visit was less than optimal. Certainly, we understand the annoyance and suffering of no hot water, even for a short time. That unfortunate incident set your visit up for a negative experience. Things do break down in homes, but as soon as we got your evening call, we had someone there the following morning to fix it. We did say we would comp you for the night and will do so asap.
  - There is no excuse for less than an immaculate house. We do not live in the area but use a professional cleaning service. We have not had an issue before, so it is surprising, but we have addressed this with our cleaning services to ensure that future guests do not share the same experience. The garbage can outside should have been taken to the dump before you arrived. We have stayed there many times and never had an issue with moths, but we will get a pest control specialist to check it out. There is a minimal amount of carpet in the bedroom which is covered by nice rugs.
  - Yes, our location is in the mountains. Winding roads are to be expected. The location is Pineola and there are maps easily available to show you the location and distance to amenities. The size of our cottage is listed on the site as 384 sq ft. It's a one bedroom, full bath, fully stocked kitchen and living area with new furnishings. The toiletries are only provided for emergency use if forgotten. It is much larger than a hotel room but priced nightly at a much lower rate. Plus, all the outdoor porch space, grill, and fire pit.
  - We hope that in spite of a few issues, you were able to find some enjoyment. Linville Land Harbor is a beautiful setting and our cottage is quiet with a wonderful outdoor setting and views for relaxation.
