  • Not what we expected

    3/5

This cabin was not what we expected! It doesn’t really look like a cabin is more like a trailer. Place didn’t seem well taken care of or clean, underneath the couch cushions was a lot of stains of what looked like blood and hairs. The bed sheets didn’t smell clean at all they looked like they had been used, luckily i brought an extra set of blankets and pillow case for my daughter because of things like this precisely, but my husband and i had to use the ones provided. The place had no wifi even tho it was advertised in the listing as one of the amenities, and this was a big inconvenience because my husband needed to follow up with our clients and manage our company, and signal is not very good over there. We had no running water our second day there we couldn’t shower or brush or teeth or flush the toilet, the 3rd day when the problem got fixed there was no cold water in the kitchen so we couldn’t even do dishes without burning our hands. There was a blizzard so the pipes froze something that wouldn’t have happen if the place was better prepared. We go on vacation every single year on December and stay in cabins everytime and have never had this issue before. The owner tried his best and even gave us a refund for one of the days that we didn’t have running water but unfortunately that doesn’t make up for the bad experience we had and we couldn’t fully enjoy our vacation because we were worried something else was going to get messed up like the heater and we would be freezing. This place is not reliable and is not well prepared for people to stay in. Also in the rule book they say that you have to clean before you go but they don’t provide anything for you to do so only an old broom that doesn’t even swipe right, we had our dog with us and had a very hard time cleaning before we left and took us twice as long, (again we have never ever had an experience like this in any cabin they usually even have vacuums available for you to use), anyways by the time we were done and were getting ready to leave we saw a car outside with a couple and the lady was very rude she was giving us the stink eye my husband said hi and she rolled her eyes at him i hope they were not the owners because she was just plain rude. And last there was a dog outside he made a big mess in the garbage can outside and my husband had to clean it,and growled at him and our dog.Sharing our experience because these are all things i wish i read in the reviews before choosing this cabin.

  • Unique Escape

    4/5

The property is difficult to give a quick impression of. It is in a very unique location situated at the top of ridges surrounded by steep valleys. Its convenient to Marble, Murphy & the activities of the the Nantahala Gorge. If anyone has spent time in rural NC, GA or any other mostly rural place you realize that it encompasses many different lifestyles in which poverty may play a part. I don't mind, its part of the mountain experience. While some of the people may not be wealthy , they are rich in knowledge of the area & experiences. The cabin was very cool, especially since it was part of Disneys Wilderness Adventures campground. I wish the owner had been there. I wouldve loved a chance to get behind the wheel of the JD log skidder or the Cat 305 excavator. They have done a lot of work to put the cabins in very difficult places to work. One experience when I was out walking my dog late one night: My dog pulled me to the left side of the driveway going to the house. I heard a lot of brush cracking & rustling & though it may have been a deer. I picked up a fairly good size rock & threw it down the side of the steep valley. I could hear it roll down the side & also heard crashing brush & trees. Whatever it was took off kind of a squawking & grunting down the valley. Very strange. Never heard a deer like that. We had a great time in our week there. Driveway wasn't an issue for us with a front wheel drive suv. Pretty much a typical mountain driveway. Thank you for having us.
