Propery is as described and clean. We had 6 adults & 3 children. There was plenty of room... but the best of all, there was plenty of hot water for everyone...all things considered....we all agreed we would stay again.

The property was very nice. Plenty of space with four bedrooms. The game room was awesome, who doesn't like air hockey? The house is very close to Blowing Rock down a road that changes to gravel. We had no problem getting in and out but wonder if the weather had been different. It rained the last day and I was a little concerned but no issues getting in or out. Sitting out on the deck in the rocking chairs, one can hear the Yadkin river below, a very peaceful and soothing place to unwind and relax. The only issue we had were no trash bags in the place and in some trash cans, along with the coffee pot not working. Very minor issues in comparison to how lovely the house was and the great time we had!

The home is located very close to all the local activities. Don’t use Waze to locate the home. It’s easy to find on apple or google maps.

The home has several issues. First the listing is deceiving. There were no trash bags. Also you only get one roll of toilet paper per bathroom and one roll paper towels so if you stay for a while bring your own. Also you get three dishwasher pods.

The stairs leading up to the home on the outside has a two story climb with no hand rail. The steps are rotten in several spots.

The first hour there my son started telling me about screaming coming from the trash can. We found three mice one deceased. The other two were twitching in pain and appeared to be a failed poisoning. My husband was forced to dispose of them as to not distress our young children further.

Over the next few days we had issues with ants near the stairs. The last two nights we heard mice in the walls of the laundry room and bathroom down stairs. The washer was moldy.

Finally be aware though you pay a cleaning fee you are responsible for stripping beds, washing all dishes and putting them away and emptying all trash.

As for the internet, one it is clearly metered internet. We have family in the area and they have zero issues with internet this is clearly a choice to not have a larger internet package. You get a text before arriving that discloses you can not stream and have a limited amount of internet. So if you plan to work remotely or need to turn in school assignment I would not count on this home. Or if you and your family plan to stream movies at night this will not be the case.

At first glance the home appears clean. But after cleaning the floors I had a lot of black come off. The rugs are very dingy.

Also in the bunk bed room there is a closet which had weed killer and other house hold chemicals that was not locked up or secured in any way. This closet also had wiring and the hot water heater well. My children are young and it greatly bothered me there was no way to block this area to prevent them from accessing it.

We had plenty of towels and clean sheets. But some beds do not have mattress protectors which for cleanliness bothered me.

There were lots of games. The bon fire area was great. Always had plenty of hot water. All the cooking items you would need and appliances are there. This home has a great front porch.

  • Great spot for getting away

Blackberry Hill is an excellent getaway for family or friends. We had two family groups stay, and the layout of the house was perfect for one family on each floor. The location was convenient to Blowing Rock and all the shopping and amenities there, but far enough to feel like you're really in the middle of nowhere. We enjoyed some summer thunderstorms on the rocking chairs on the porch, and even enjoyed a little campfire. The game selection was great for kids 5-13 and the space was safe enough for infants. The only note I would have is for the listing itself to specify the wifi and cell service limitations. We've lived in the mountains, and totally understand the limitations that are not the fault of the owners, but I missed the notes about it in the reviews. We pivoted fine and it was actually a wonderful respite from technology. Just would've been nice to know up front that the wifi is really just enough to check an email, but not always load a website or text, and definitely no streaming.
