Horrible experience! The house was filthy! Towels and washcloths were old, worn and mismatched. Bedding on queen bed did not fit the bed. Bunk beds had no bunkieboards and cheap mattresses. Dishes were sparse, random and put up dirty. Outdoor hedges are overgrown and house is hardly visible from the road. Vrbo refunded our money, but weren’t able to find somewhere else for us to stay on an already stressful weekend, as we were in town for my 10 year old nephew’s funeral! We will likely never book with VRBO again!

Hi Mary, we take guest feedback seriously and passed your comments on to the homeowner who would like to share the following: We uphold high standards of hospitality for our property and strive to provide a positive experience to our guests.
- We truly value the cleanliness and condition of the house. Our cleaning team prides themselves on professionally and thoroughly preparing the home before guests' arrival. Our cleaners consistently receive 5-star reviews on their service and previous guests have posted reviews stating the home is clean in a common thread. They also make sure to document each service by taking photos after each clean. After your departure, we inspected the home and discovered it to be immaculate with no cleanliness issues to report.
- We care about the quality of service we provide for our guests. The towels are of high quality and have all been recently purchased. They are all of the exact style, two different colors, and well enough for two guests in each bedroom for a two-week stay.
- In regards to the hedges mentioned, they are 75-year-old Camelias, Azaleas Boxwoods, Viburnums, and Ligustrums which can't be cut back without removing all the leaves and leaving nothing but branches. When they are all blooming they are gorgeous, and provide a sense of privacy from the street.
- We aim for transparency and our listing and photos are accurately advertised. Guests can reference the photos to confirm that the side rails on the upper bunk are stable and in place. For support, the wood slats underneath are well in place too.
- The mattress provides much support and comfort. As you did not stay for your reservation, we are unsure how you measured the comfortability of the bed but guests can rest assured we've never received any similar complaints before and we have enjoyed the comfort of the mattress with no issues.
- As a standard practice for preparing the home, the bed was fully covered in a set of full sheets and bedspread. Other blankets of the proper size are also available for guest use in the room if necessary.
We truly do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.
The house was decent but definitely in need of some renovations. Parts of the ceiling were peeling off and in general the whole house had a run down feeling. On the plus side, it was clean. The dryer was not working properly. It was on but the clothes never got dry. We stayed just for the weekend so didn't want to bother with alerting the property manager. So I don't know how responsive they'd be in such circumstances.

We had an event at TIEC this weekend and very much enjoyed staying at this property! It is as described, a 2 BR bungaló that is clean with some nice upgrades. It is off in a quiet area that we first drove past but is down the hill from the auto shop. The auto shop wasn't open this weekend and it was a very quiet neighborhood. The back porch is well done and the front yard is nice. We all agreed it would be a great place for our families to stay at in the future if we had an event at TIEC or in that area as the house and town was very kid friendly. You can easily walk to 4 great restaurants nearby from the house. We really enjoyed the well-presented and very authentic Mexican food at El Campesino and our sure the kiddos would have loved the pizza place next door.

There is no view from the deck. You are next to tire shop! We found kids used bandaid stuck to sheets of uncomfortable bed. No amenities at all. Not even soap for shower. Cool CD collection but stereo did not work and TV is size of postage stamp.

Hi Richard, thank you for your review. We wanted to pass along the following feedback from the homeowners: I am sorry to hear you were disappointed with your stay. As for the place not being clean, my cleaning team does an excellent job. I come to the house often and it is always spic and span. I do my best to make the listing as accurate as possible. The house is advertised as having a large private deck, with no mention of a particular view. The house is next to an auto repair shop, but they do not work on the weekends. I am sorry there was a bandaid in the kid's bed. It is understandable that a small bandaid could stick to the underside of a bedsheet and go unnoticed. As far as the kid's bed being uncomfortable, I sleep in the bunk bed when I'm up there and sleep very well. The CD player works fine, you just have to turn on the amp first. The TV is a 32" set in a 12 ft wide living room and is shown clearly in the photos. There is soap on the bathroom sink, and there are paper towels, 10-12 basic spices available, cooking oil, and cooking spray. There is charcoal for the grill and bird seed to put in the feeders (there are lots of birds in the area). Along with the cool CD collection, there are also DVDs, jigsaw puzzles, board games, poker chips, and playing cards. The house is three minutes off the interstate, with a very short drive to quality hiking, waterfall viewing, tubing, rafting, driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, and enjoying what Western NC has to offer. It seems like it just wasn't the right place for you.
This is a super cute property. It’s clean, comfortable and quiet. Very convenient to Tryon and TIEC. On the edge between a neighborhood with wide quiet streets and downtown within easy walking distance to multiple restaurants and two parks.
