    Overall the house was just as described. Our stay was ok but it could have been much better if our contact person had responded sooner to our concerns.

    The house was adequate for our needs but when we arrived the house looked like it had been neglected on the exterior. Inside was ok ....light bulbs needed but that is an easy fix. And bring your own broom because they do not have one . That was a first. Never been in a house without a broom.

    Most VRBO homes we stayed in have a notebook with a list of restaurants, hikes , etc. a guide to the area. This did not. Also homes we have stayed in before have a traveler journal for guests to sign and tell what they enjoyed about the house. This did not.

    The deck is expansive and wonderful and also the wrap around porch, Unfortunately this area was dirty and unkempt. We were told that the deck had been pressured wash...it did not look like it had at all. The deck was covered with old leaves , cigarette butts and a orange cone and noodle were thrown to the side. The firepit had not been cleaned out and the grill was in horrible shape.

    If we had had a broom we would have cleaned it ourselves but after trying to get up with the contact host all day they finally came with a blower and blew the deck off. I felt like we were an inconvenience to the contact host and I got very frustrated about not hearing when they might come to clean off the deck. the second contact number worked . I hope they cleaned the deck for the next guest.

    -We strive for timely responses from our contact hosts and are working to ensure quicker communication for addressing guest concerns.
    -The exterior will receive more attention to maintain a welcoming appearance.
    -Light bulbs have been replaced to ensure a well-lit interior.
    -A broom will be added to the house supplies to enhance convenience for our guests.
    -We’re considering adding a guidebook with local recommendations and a guest journal for future stays.
    -Leaves were blown off the deck as soon as possible, but we understand the frustration and will ensure more frequent cleanings. Cigarette butts and other debris will also be more thoroughly removed.
    We appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve and provide a better experience for future guests. Thanks again, and we hope you keep us in mind for your future travels!

    This location is absolutely perfect! We had a family get away with multiple children and the deck is so large its great to have everyone all out there together.

    Separate side house with pool table is a really cool addition.

  • Florida Family and Friends Get-away

    Overall we all had a wonderful time, it was exactly what we needed; downtime to have great conversations and close enough to attractions for activities (HawksNest Tubing, Sugar MTN Skiing/Snowboarding, and Grandfather Mtn, but it was closed due to weather conditions.

    The cabin is clean and comfortable. Comfortable beds and enough bedding to keep ya warm.

    There are several stains on the carpets, maybe because it is pet friendly. A good mixture of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and dawn will get those stains right out.

    The garage billard/bedroom is a great place to play pool and make memories.

    Suggestions:

    1. When searching for properties to rent we searched for properties that did NOT require 4*4 or AWD to get to. We are Florida people. This property definitely required AWD to reach with winter weather. We had to purchase snow chains and were able to get to the cabin, but with kids crying thinking we were all going to die sliding off the MTN, it makes for a funny story now.

    2. The supplies like Toilet paper and paper towels were not enough for 10 people for 5 days. We purchased more and maybe that is what is expected, and if so should be stated. OR perhaps since there was a winter storm prior to our arrival they were not able to get up there to add to supply.

    The property manager Ricky was super nice and answered my call the first time it rang. He happily discussed any questions I had. We will definitely return to Fox Wood.

  • Needs attention

    We enjoyed our stay in the area. We needed a cabin for 10 and selection was thin. We chose this one. One of the things that led us to that decision was a garage. That was broken and not available. The door opener was even unplugged. I feel like that should have been communicated as it’s mentioned in the advertising. Additionally, lighting is out in a few places. The porch string lights have several lights out and the light over the sink is out. That makes it quite dark after the sun goes down. Not a huge deal but it’s an impact to the experience when washing dishes after dinner. The shower drain upstairs seems clogged so the tub builds up water and slowly drains.

    None of these are critical issues but they all point to lack of attention and maintenance. The part that bugged me was the lack of communication. The door lock batteries died and we could not lock the door when we left to go out. That left our pet and belongings unsecured. Not an emergency so we emailed them. We bought batteries and fixed it on our own but never received any communication from them in response. For the price we paid, I feel like we should not had had this experience. We have rented cabins before and never had these issues.
