Camp Howie is the quintessential lakeside cabin, and we’ve booked and enjoyed stays the last two years for our family (four adults, two teens, and a toddler). While slightly cozy a family of our size, we’ve been able to make it work and have enjoyed utilizing the covered porch for meals and relaxing and listening to the loons in the evening. The long and bumpy dirt road to get to the cabin is an experience, but just made us glad to finally arrive at camp! Swimming is possible off the boat ramp, and we hope that plans for a dock come to fruition as being able to use a dock for boating and swimming would make an already incredible stay even better.
Communication from the owner, Kathleen, has always been prompt, pleasant, and efficient - we know we’re in good hands and that any issues or questions will be addressed promptly. For example, during this year’s stay the whole town lost power for a few hours overnight, and I promptly received a text from Kathleen at midnight checking in on us and letting us know that she was aware of the outage and passing along the power company’s estimate for restoration. We also had a question about the stove later in the week that she answered promptly.
We love Camp Howie and would recommend it to anyone looking for a woodsy lakeside getaway!

Overall, we had a good time, but disappointed about view from the porch of lake. Bushes need some maintenance. Inside of camp was lovely.

Great location and secluded quiet cabin with a beautiful view. The only problem we had was that there were 8 people but linen and towels for 6. We made it work and had a wonderful vacation!
