House review
The house was very clean, the best we ever rented in the last 20 years.
However the house had problems.
Of the five living room windows facing west to the lake, only one opened, and it was only about 10 inches. The living room A/C didn’t work well and the room was extremely hot with the sun shining directly in. The dark curtains which had to be closed to block the sun, made the room very depressing and unusable. They need to install awnings or add a porch with a roof on the outside to block the sun.
They also need to replace the windows because they don’t work
well.
The TV in the living room only had 4 channels, CBS and 3 cowboy or gangster shows.
The house was described as beach front. It was in fact 200 yards away and you had to walk down a a gravel road. The beach itself was nice.
The kitchen had several problems. The refrigerator door had to be shut forcefully. Very limited pots and pans. The facet needs to be replaced. The gas stove is very old. In order to light a burner, you had to turn on the gas and then use a hand held lighter so the flames would come on. The oven was the same.
The bathroom was nice, but a bath mat is needed in the shower because its floor is very slippery.
I’m sorry this is so negative, but the house has potential. I want the owner to know specific problems so they can be addressed.

Rogers, thank you so much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We truly appreciate your kind words about the cleanliness of the house, especially since you’ve mentioned it’s the best you’ve rented in 20 years—that is certainly a compliment we take to heart!
-We're glad to inform you that we have already installed brand-new windows in both the kitchen and dining areas, though we understand they may not have been as noticeable during your stay. As for the living room windows, we are actively working on replacing them and have plans in place to make further improvements to address the issues you’ve highlighted.
-Your suggestions regarding awnings or adding a porch to block the sun are very helpful, and we’ll certainly consider them as we continue to enhance the property.
-Regarding the TV and kitchen, we regret any inconvenience you experienced. We will make sure to reassess the kitchen supplies and look into the stove and refrigerator, as well as the television channel options, to ensure future guests have a better experience.
-Lastly, your safety note about the shower is very important, and we will be adding a bath mat to prevent any potential slipping hazards.
Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us as it helps us identify areas for improvement, and we are committed to addressing them so that future guests can enjoy an even better stay. Thank you again for your input, and we hope to welcome you back in the future to experience the improvements we’ve made!
Wonderful cottage with lake view. Was listed as beach front but there was a short walk to the beach. Other then that the only problem was no plunger for the bathroom! We enjoyed our stay on this property.

The grand children love the sandy beach. The weather was perfect at the time of our stay. Very quiet and private location.

Good place to stay. Air conditioning, beautiful lake, very quiet and secluded. Cute coastal town. Belfast is nearby and a great place to spend the day. Enjoyed Sears Island for a nice day hike. Also not far from Bar Harbor if you would like to head up there for the day. Tim was a great host! Easily accessible! Left us his personal spotting scope, once he found out we were birders. I’m sure he would have done anything for us if we had asked!
