  • No hot water, cut off heat

    The property had no hot water upon our arrival. We contacted the property manager in the next morning and heard back at 6 pm that night. They called a plumber, who determined there was an issue with the water heater. The manager told us that they couldn't fix the problem during our stay, which I understood, and we discussed a rebate of part of the price. However, that night we woke up very cold and discovered they had turned off the gas to the house, and it was below 60 degrees by morning. None of us slept well, defeating the purpose of having a house for this trip.

    We complained to the management company that we would have moved out if we had known there was no heat (or spare blankets), and got a very unhelpful response. They ended up refunding less than 10% of the total cost, even though we had to take showers at a nearby rec center all weekend and did not get a good sleep the last night. It was a very disappointing customer experience. This is even more so an issue given that it was obvious the problems were the house were due to poor maintenance. Several plumbing and electrical fixtures were damaged or broken, the dishwasher was full of unwashed, crusty dishes, and the management company was not equipped to respond to issues.

    I would have been more understanding if the management company had done more to compensate us for these issues, showing they wanted to rectify it.

    It was a beautiful place, however the hot water or heater did not work our entire stay. We had to take COLD showers. The water wasn’t lukewarm, it was freezing. It was super cold at night since the heater didn’t work. It was almost unbearable. We did reach out to the host and someone came out, however the issue wasn’t fixed. Other than that, the home was beautiful and in a great area.

  • 4 Night Stay

    I say these things to hopefully make the owners aware of some things that can improve the experience for anyone else booking this property.

    Upon arrival, we were nervous as we pulled up because the house looked abandoned. The front yard was so overgrown it looked like no one had been there in months. They did come on the evening of our 3rd day and cut it. The internet was not working and I lost 4 hours of telework and a Church service I was supposed to attend virtually. When we checked the upstairs the bedrooms were great, mattresses were comfortable, but there were hairs from someone else under the comforter in the master bedroom. The hallway bathroom had fescues and urine that had been sitting for I don’t know how long, but it was potent! We opened the window and flushed the toilet. When we checked the showers for water pressure, the master bath spout caulking is lose and the fixture pulls away from the wall, which will eventually break if not fixed. When I called the local host about the internet and told her about the dirty toilet and shower issue she asked me “what did you do?” She also claimed being there the day before, which is impossible unless her or someon she brought never flushed. Anyway, there are 2 hosts and both were difficult to reach and it was stressful. The last time I spoke with Gertrude, she hung up on me. I dealt directly with Evolve customer service after that and they were fantastic and friendly! The living room was fine, couch reclines, kitchen was okay, there are a ton of plates, bowls, cups and new air fryer/toaster/k-cup coffee maker. The utensils on the counter had dried food on them, so we took all the silverware and a bunch of plates and washed them. There were Clorox wipes and we had to wipe all bathroom faucets, countertops and the refrigerator out. The back patio is great, but when you look down there is garbage all over and a huge used condom right outside the back basement door. That’s nasty.

    Having a garage was fantastic. But there is NO washer/dryer as the advertisement says. I came there having packed lighter, knowing I could wash clothes and then couldn’t.

    Once the internet was finally fixed by the late evening of our arrival day, that helped a lot, but that should be checked by cleaning crew in advance of someone arriving.

    I have not received any discount or refund either.

  • Pleasant surprise

    We had a perfect vacation and the place was kept nice.

    Our checkin time was 3.00 pm, when we arrived there, some cleaning was still in progress so they asked us to come an hr later. it was a bit strange as we were all tired and wanted to get some rest..but had to go to cofee shop and kill sometime..once we entered the property, everything is fine.
