  • Wasn’t inhabitable

    1/5

We arrived after check-in because our request for getting in early wasn’t possible. Someone helped us figure out the parking in the garage. Which was so nice. The email from the owner said the tv was broken.

The big issue was that there was no heat and temperatures outside and in the apartment were cold. It had radiators, but no thermostat and when I turned the radiator knobs nothing happened. There also wasn’t enough bedding to keep us warm so we had to wear layers of clothes and still we froze all night. Also, the listing didn’t mention that the apartment was right next to the 290 expressway. So we were sandwiched between a loud expressway and behind was a commuter train running all night which was very loud. Finally there were three deadlocks on the door which made my kids worry that we were staying in a place that may have had a break in problem. Who has three deadbolts.

When I emailed the owner about us not being able to sleep in the cold apartment the second night I never received a reply. We had to sleep on a blow up mattress on a friend’s floor since it was Thanksgiving holiday weekend and they had a full house already.

I then reached out a second time asking for a refund or apology a week later, still no response.

First day the neighbor doll poop right in front of our entry door but the neighbor addressed the issue as soon as possible. Abandon car in the garage. • Great access to the "L"

    4/5

The home was clean and photos were accurate. Unfortunately, we arrived during an extreme weather combination of smoke in the air from Canadian forest fires and very hot weather. The two window unit air conditioners couldn't keep up with the heat, but our host provided two column fans which solved the problem. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was adequate for our needs (mostly breakfasts). For supper, we Ubered to restaurants in the downtown area of Forest Park which served us well. Staying over the 4th of July, it was fun to see fireworks all around us on the horizon. Overall, a good stay.

  • Weekend getaway

    5/5

Traveled to Chicago for a long weekend getaway with the wife and kids. The apartment was nicely furnished, and had everything needed to cook in. I was impressed how clean the unit was. I would definitely stay again.
