We loved it and are sad to move on. We will miss the sounds of frogs and roosters, the beautiful sunsets and sunrises, Bernie (the dog), and the geodome domicile - comfortable and charming!

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. several little lizards came to our outdoor breakfast table, and we loved feeding them. One of us did get eaten up by either mosquitoes or no-see-ums, despite applying bug spray liberally. We also had to get used to the very loud nocturnal coqui frogs—bring ear plugs.

Our stay at this cottage was just okay. The pictures are true to the place. It was remote and off the grid as what we wanted, however they didn’t disclose a few things like: you can’t run a blow dryer or use a hair straightener due to their solar power. I wish that would have been disclosed and not read it on a stickey note in the bathroom. The bed was just okay, not very comfortable and cheap bedding. There is a an Ant problem. So don’t leave any open food out on the counters. Also one morning we got up and the box of kleenix by the bed was full of ants. I had no food or drink on the stand at all during our stay.to attrack the ants there. Also when we went to make dinner the night we arrived, we ended up washing dishes that were in the cupboard dirty! Before We even ate. Gross! There was no large garbage can for garbage at all. They advertised a coffee pot but ther wasn’t a coffee pot just a French press and no toaster! You had to toast your bread over the gas stove. .this was our first experience in a Vrbo rental and it was just okay. I realize it is remote as we live in the country ourselves but the ant issue wasn’t pleasant. The toilet does run like an RV ( camper toilet) which doesn’t bother us as we have an RV but there’s didn’t flush good at all! We rented this cottage based on the reviews we read and they were all excellent but I would not give them an excellent review based on what we experienced. I was disappointed after having read how good the reviews were!

I highly recommend this place, although…. It’s about an hour from Kona airport and a little hard to find after dark….but the stars at night were amazing and it’s in a quiet area that is so relaxing. It’s a distance to anywhere-including restaurants are at least a half hour away…but you’re not in the crowded business of Kona. The frogs are fun to listen to at night…but I needed earplugs to sleep. The sunset is beautiful…. But it gets hot in the unit late afternoons and evenings….and it was very comfortable sleeping at night with the doors and windows open.
