The Bluff House (as Stan the owner calls it) is very comfortable and of course, what could possibly beat that view?! My family decided to celebrate Thanksgiving there and because of this we probably did more cooking than most. The kitchen is well stocked for eating, and Stan even let us use his turn-of-the century china for our special dinner. There were some items missing from the kitchen one would expect to find in any home or BNB, so if you have specific needs, be sure to ask Stan before your trip. The house was immaculately clean, but had a dampness and a bit of a musty smell at first that went away after running the heat for a few hours. I have bad chemical and mold allergies so I mention this for those who might have the same issues. The second bedroom has a large cedar closet that caused me some allergies, but my Air Doctor that I brought with me helped. Stan was very accommodating towards my allergies and altered his cleaning products for me. We enjoyed having a fire each night in the living room and the house is so spacious we had plenty of room for different activities. A couple of things that are not made clear in the listing: 1) The second bedroom does not have its own bathroom. This wasn't a problem for us, but it was a surprise. 2) There is a large painting in the living room that has a nude woman in it. If I could change anything about the house, this would be it. I was traveling with my husband and son, and my son's new girlfriend. Even though we are all adults it made us all uncomfortable. Overall, we'd definitely stay there again. We enjoyed hiking Cloudland Canyon and I LOVED sitting on the boulder at the edge of the property with my coffee in the morning.
Hi Robin, we take guest feedback seriously and passed your comments on to the homeowner who would like to share the following:
- We strive to provide our guests with a great guest experience, so we were disappointed to hear your feedback and want to take a moment to address your concerns.
- We appreciate you highlighting both the positives, the comfortable accommodations, and the unbeatable views, along with the constructive feedback so that we may continue improving the guest experience.
- In regards to the musty smell you referenced, the recent heavy rains unfortunately led to higher humidity. However, the crawl space is wrapped to make sure that no mold or moisture is present. We did our very best to accommodate your requests, from cleaning solvents to laundry soaps and sanitizers, to ensure your allergies were not triggered during your stay.
- We take our listing accuracy seriously, and where our listing is advertised as two beds, and two baths, only one of the bathrooms is listed as ensuite, but we're sorry if this caught you off guard.
- In regard to the antique painting you referenced, it is an expensive European antique allegory painting and is very tasteful not inappropriate nor graphic, and contains no erotic undertones. Museum quality fine art, but we're truly sorry if this made you feel uncomfortable in any way and had a negative impact on your stay.
We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.
We've rented many places over the years but this one has the most beautiful view yet. We especially enjoyed starting and ending the day looking out over the mountains and the valley below. The home is located in a quiet area near Cloudland Canyon and convenient to Chattanooga, Chickamauga and other areas of interest. There are lots of comfortable sitting areas inside and out. Stan was very helpful and responsive and has the most guest friendly check out process we've encountered. The furnishings and decorations of the home are especially upscale for a rental though we found some of the artwork to be a bit edgy.
We stayed here on our way from Canada to Florida. The house is on a quiet road, nestled in the trees, right on the bluff, and the view is absolutely breathtaking. Upon our arrival we were welcomed by Perry into their lavishly furnished, impeccably clean home. Awaiting us were an abundance of snacks and a bottle of wine. We were later visited by Stan who made sure that everything was to our satisfaction and was extremely helpful by suggesting things to do and places to visit in the area. We have done some extensive travelling over the years and we give this home, our experience and the service we received a 10.
This is a very nice and comfortable house. Peaceful area. The host was nice and helpful. Beautiful views. We were very happy with our stay.
