  • Beautiful home

    5/5

Beautiful home and property. Only concern is extremely steep driveway, could not pull hybrid mini van up driveway. Very kind neighbors across the.street suggested we park in their drive way. Hand rails or steps along drive would be a suggestion for people who have to walk up driveway.

  • Great vacation even with the rain

    5/5

We enjoyed our stay. We went fishing and hiking, and to the beach club one day all of which were very relaxing. The lower Falls was very beautiful. The rainbow trout were a lot of fun to catch and the beach club had something for everyone.

  • PROPERTY NEEDS OWNERSHIP ATTENTION

    2/5

I've never given a bad review on VRBO, but feel compelled this time. I will say that the property manager, Amanda was VERY responsive, We had to call her three or four times the first evening. Eventually, we got tired of calling and just dealt with it. The check in process is flawed. I called 2 days ahead to ask if I needed to provide the names of those staying and was told an email will be sent the day of check-in wiith all of that. It states to provide the names and ID at the gate at check-in. We arrived and they would not let us in because they didn't already have our names. We called Amanda and she said the email states to respond to that with the names. But it doesn't. The ad states that the driveway is very steep, but it doesn't tell you that a normal automobile can't even climb it. We could not drive our FWD Odyssey up it and were left spinning with the car halfway into the road. We had to back out and then try to back up the driveay. That allowed us to barely get off the road and no farther. You need an AWD or 4WD to get up that driveway and if you can scrape either the front or rear bumpers on the road while trying like we did.The house is spacious and overall clean enough. Lots of broken handles, pocket door that is difficult to slide (wife broke a fingernail on it), pathway lights broken and strewn about the property, TV remotes that dont work (likely dead batteries), and bad odor in the master bedroom closet, the screened porch is pulling away from the house and just general neglect over time in my view. All of the appliances are "smart" ones. That means they do not operate like normal ones do and you need a tutorial on the stove, the microwave, the oven, etc. The owner provides a Google link that takes you to a page with 18 different vidoes about the property, but you can't find the one you want without watching all 18 of them because they aren't labeled. Some of them don't even work. The hot tub operated properly, but we never could get the theatre room to function likelt due to dead remote batteries. I could go on. To top it all off, we had left our suitcases open on the floor in the master bedroom. When we got home and were unpacking, my wife got stung by a scorpion.....yes, a scorpion that had climbed into her suitcase while on the floor. We booked a property that sleeps 8 for a party of four in order to get the comfort, luxury and amenities this one provided, but were diappointed. We don't feel like we got our money's worth.

    Manager's Response:

Owner's response: "Scott, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. We do appreciate the feedback but would like to clarify a few things.
    - The check-in process is very clear, you need to respond to the email that is sent to each guest so that the names of all guests staying at the property are provided to the security personnel at the gate. This is for safety reasons and to ensure a seamless check-in, we're sorry if this was confusing, but this is the first time this has occurred
    - Our home is located in a beautiful mountain community, and the driveway is indeed steep but has always been navigable by standard vehicles. We do have in the description that the driveway is steep, but 4WD or AWD is not necessary
    - The "smart" appliances are modern and meant to provide added convenience. We provide a link to instructional videos for all appliances, and we apologize if you found the organization of these videos confusing. We'll definitely look into improving their categorization for future guests.
    - Regarding the comment about the handles, remotes, and pathway lights being broken or malfunctioning comes as a surprise, as these issues were not reported during your stay. We would have taken care of these or at least looked into them for you
    - We are truly sorry to hear about the scorpion incident. As our property is in a mountainous area, wildlife encounters, although rare, can occasionally happen. We have pest control come out every 2.5 months. If you leave doors or windows open, bugs will get in. We do remind guests to keep suitcases and belongings closed or elevated, as a precaution. We will make sure to emphasize this advice to future guests.

We strive to provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience
for all of our guests and to be transparent in our listing descriptions. We
take all feedback seriously and use it to improve our property and
services. We regret that you did not have the positive experience
    that we aim for.
We truly go above and beyond for our guests, and are confident that future guests will have excellent stays! We will continue to deliver the 5-star experiences we strive for."

  • If you want to relax this is it!

    5/5

We enjoyed a lot staying in this area of Big Canoe! We were looking for some relaxed family time away from all the city noise. The property was very accommodating for everyone in our party. There were a few inconveniences with the amenities but owner and property manager were very responsive about it. Would definitely rent here again!!

  • North Georgia mountain retreat

    4/5

Great house for our family of seven. We enjoyed the special amenities, theater room and hot tub. Our trip centered around the hiking trails available in Big Canoe, which we loved. We saw lots of deer and enjoyed the fall leaves. Great family get away!
