• Disappointing.

  The house is really, really small. The shower in the master bathroom was too small for my wife to shave her legs in. The shower was also dirty when we arrived. There were no outlets in the master bathroom for my wife to get ready. The bed in the master bedroom was as hard as a rock. The most disappointing thing of all was the pool and backyard. The pool was a murky mess all week, even after someone came to clean it the day we checked in. There were tadpoles swimming in it all week. The backyard was a complete mess. Over grown weeds and trash everywhere. I actually cleaned up the backyard by pulling weeds around the walk way to the pool and cleaned up all the trash and even moved the fake “flower” pots out of sight because they were broken, faded and really worn out and old. The front of the house was in the same shape. Over grown weeds and a messy yard. This property has a lot of potential, just needs some TLC. We won’t be returning.

• The house was 87-88 degrees during most of the day

  This house carried a temperature of 87-88 degrees daily with temperatures cooling off only around 10pm and rising again around 10am. This began day 1 and did not abate during our entire stay (this despite multiple contacts with the owner's rep and the host, Evolve). VRBO told me I would have to go through the host and would not help me. I was on the phone daily begging for assistance. A HVAC man finally showed up on Thursday but because the owner was not there, he did not do any service to improve the heat issue. We had to leave the house every day to get away from the heat.

  To top this off, on Wednesday, we were hit with frog eggs all over the pool and ants. The service guy came that day but Thursday morning, there were fresh frog eggs and now tadpoles, additional ants and other bugs. My son-in-law got an ear infection which probably came from swimming there the days before not realizing the water wasn't right.

  You see that slide pictured by the pool? Don't expect to use it without a bucket to pour water down it before you slide and even then, expect contact burns from scrubbing your skin as you descend. This was one of the selling points of this rental since we had children in our party.

  The refrigerator took 2 days to register a safe temperature to store our perishables.

  Every day, I woke to wondering what fresh new hell was waiting for us. I had daily phone calls with Evolve, the host, who accomplished nothing except to get the owner's representative to

• Complete disappointment.

  When we entered the property we immediately noticed that it smelled like urine. The air conditioner was left at 83 degrees which was not a surprise since it was unoccupied. However we turned it down and then left to get groceries. When we returned it was not much cooler. My husband checked the ac which had a filter that was grossly caked with dust. Even before we left at 11 o'clock the property had not cooled off. The refrigerator also was warm set at what looked to be possibly 63 degrees and we could not get the refrigerator to work properly and our perishables began to get warm. There was food on the floor in the kitchen. The living room floor was very dirty that we cleaned as we had a baby that was crawling on the floor. The photos are very misleading. The shower smelled of mold. We tried to make it work but ended up leaving at 11 o'clock at night. We tried to contact the host via telephone five times with no answer. We did not stay even one night.

• Well-located Compact House

  We chose this house for it's location and the pool. It's a couple of minutes walk to the beach, restaurants and a few shops.

  The pool was surprisingly deep (the majority of it is 7 feet deep) and not in the best condition when we arrived. It took some extra maintenance visits and several days to get the water right so we could enjoy it. The pool, and both the back and front yards have been neglected quite a bit since the property's photo shoot, so we were expecting better for the high price.

  Similarly, the photos are also a little misleading in terms of the size of the property: the kitchen/dining area is very compact and the en-suite bathroom was a trick to maneuver around. Some of the fixtures, furniture and finishes swapped out since the pictures were taken meant that first impressions on arrival were disappointing. However, the beds were very comfortable.
