  • Very disappointed

    2/5

I left messages with property management and emailed managers and owner about a problem and no one ever responded. The house was cute, check in fine, location was good for us. The house was clean but we had a problem with mice. They were brave and would run around day and night. They weren’t afraid of noise or our two little schnauzers we had. They got into our groceries on the kitchen counter, ate corners on cereal and cracker boxes, ate through the bread we had to keep everything in refrigerator or a tote. We bought glue pads and caught quite a few. It was awful, I didn’t want to cook the side dishes I was supposed to take for Thanksgiving because I didn’t want them running across my feet. I didn’t want to put any of this in a review I wanted management to know so they could get some pest control in there before it ruined another families vacation. The fact that no one had ever responded has been upsetting and lead me to post this here. We were stuck , because it was Thanksgiving week there wasn’t anything else available to move to and the expense of the hotel on top of the VRBO and the dogs didn’t make that a good option. There’s also a basement that you access through the back patio it’s open to that area down there with a short door this was kind of creepy as well as we had men in the alleyway looking through the back fence several times that was unsettling. The doors stick and don’t lock that great, definitely would never stay here by myself.

    Manager's Response:

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention, Susie, we apologize for any inconvenience you experienced during your stay at the Rusty Peacock. We appreciate the positive aspects you highlighted about the house, check-in process, and location.
-We are sorry to hear about the issue with mice during your stay. Our goal is to provide a comfortable and pest-free environment for our guests. We have thoroughly investigated your report, and no evidence of mice has been found in the home. The current guest, who has been staying for an extended period, has not reported any sightings.
-Regarding your attempts to contact property management and the owner, our records show no calls, texts, or emails were received from you. We have double-checked with both the local guest contact in Grand Junction and the Evolve Management company, and they confirm no communication from your end. Our protocol for communicating with guests is to make sure they have the contact information for the local guest contact, Jessica. We provide this two ways: 1) each guest is contacted a few days before arrival and is given the key code for the front door and the contact information for the local contact person; and 2) the Welcome Book has a plethora of great information including the contact information for the local contact. We are sorry you didn’t see this.
-In response to your concerns, we have implemented a new protocol to give guests a third way to receive the contact information for the local contact. The local guest contact will now reach out to guests the day after their arrival, providing her name and cell number for any questions or concerns.
-We also tried reaching out to you through calls and texts, expressing our apologies and seeking further information about your concerns. Unfortunately, we have not received a response from you.
-Customer service is of utmost importance to us, and we are committed to excellence. If you have any further details please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you for choosing the Rusty Peacock.

  • Great home and location

    5/5

The house is well organized and near Main Street. It provides easy access to all parts of Grand Junction. The back yard is great for dogs. I would happily stay here again.

  • A Visit to See Our CMU daughter

    5/5

Was a lovely home base to see our daughter over the weekend. We were able to bring her dogs and the house was accommodating for us all. Close walks to campus and downtown! Hardly had to use the car to go to places! House was charming with all the essentials. Would definitely come back here to stay.

    4/5

Location was great and neighborhood was a joy to walk through on the way to downtown. Sleeping arrangements were very comfortable. Front and backyard could use some love along with the hard to open back door. Overall we gave it 4/5 stars.
