  • Great location, beautiful home but needs some upgrades

    4/5

We truly enjoyed our stay at Rivers' Edge. First the positives: loved the hot tub and it was in great condition with clear water; the trampoline was wonderful for my 7 and 5 year old grandsons; multiple outside seating relaxing areas including the recessed fire pit down but the river were truly enjoyed; attached apartment is an extra bonus for a large group so families with children have separation - and it's air conditioned! House is appointed very nicely with appliances, plenty of dishes and silverware, spices for cooking. And we loved fishing from the backyard.Things that need addressing: We rent large homes every year for family vacations. In this price range, I honestly expected some things to be in better condition. We were not informed the ice maker in the main kitchen space did not work until we spoke to the property manager the day after we arrived and mentioned it to her. While the refrigerator is a great size for large groups, the refrigerator door did not close properly and routinely came open. Again, property manager was aware of this and told us the owner was as well. In Colorado, most homes do not have a/c so I was not surprised or concerned this home did not have a/c. Typically, you open the house up at night and then close it up during the day. The problem at this house was that NONE of the screens fit allowing 1/4" gap for bugs to enter in evening. I had to tape screens to woodwork so we could keep open windows in evening. Again, property mgr was aware.

  • Beautiful home - great location on river, but needs updating

    4/5

We truly enjoyed our stay at Rivers' Edge. It's in a great location convenient to both Glenwood Springs and Carbondale - we actually preferred Carbondale as it's less "touristy" and less crowded than Glenwood Springs although we did visit Glenwood Springs several times for activities there.

First the positives: loved the hot tub and it was in great condition with clear water; the trampoline was wonderful - it's set into ground so no chance of blowing away and so much fun for my 7 and 5 year old grandsons to just hop on and off; multiple outside seating relaxing areas including the recessed fire pit down but the river were truly enjoyed; attached apartment is an extra bonus for a large group so families with children have separation - and it's air conditioned! House is appointed very nicely with appliances, plenty of dishes and silverware, spices for cooking. And we loved fishing from the backyard and talking with boaters as they drifted by.

Second - things that need addressing: We rent large homes every year for family vacations. There was a mouse problem in the lower level. Upon inspection, we discovered a mouse trap was set in a utility closet and had a dead mouse in the trap, but during the night we could hear a mouse in the closet area of downstairs bedroom that shared common wall with utility closet. We brought this up to property manager as well on second day of trip but no extermination service showed up during our visit to address concern.

In Colorado, most homes have not needed air conditioning so I was not surprised or concerned this home did not have a/c. Typically, you open the house up at night and then close it up during the day to stay cool. The problem at this house was that NONE of the screens had a tight enough fit to keep bugs out when windows were opened in the evening. Literally, every screen had a 1/4" gap as screws were no longer fitting into the woodwork. When I figured out what the problem was, I ended up taping every screen to the woodwork to keep bugs out.

The best parts of the property were the size and versatility of the house, the location and the outdoor area. The yard and the location of the river were five star. The willow trees in the spring and summer are awesome. The size of the house and the configuration allows for privacy for the guests. What would make it a more complete experience would be upgrades including carpet cleaning or replacement (stains), fixing or replacing the main floor refrigerator (door won't close tightly), upgrading some of the worn dated furniture. Judy, the property manager was very helpful and responded promptly to our requests.
