My husband, sons, and I celebrated New Years' week at the "Wapiti Ranch" and had an amazing time! The cabin is perfect--we especially loved the wood stove, comfy beds, on-demand (and delicious!) coffee, and warm wood floors in the mornings. The views of Pikes Peak from both inside and outside were spectacular, the 45 acres of snowy fields and forests were beautiful, and the horses boarding at the property were fun to watch. We honestly could have stayed on-site all week, but there were lots of fun things to do within a short 30 min. to 1-hour drive of the property, including visiting the Cripple Creek Ice Castles, Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, Garden of the Gods, and the U.S. Airforce Academy. Our trip on the Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway was postponed due to weather, but we will visit again on our next trip! The quality of the accommodations far exceeds the rental price for four people--and the cabin would easily sleep four more. We will definitely return and bring friends! 😊
We stayed 4 nights and truly enjoyed it. There is no AC, but the temperature was never above the low 70's. Around 50-52 degrees at night. (This was the very end of July!) The owners were super nice about letting us bringing our 3 5pound Yorkies. It is quite secluded, but we were fine with that. Most everything was 45 minutes to 1 hour away--and that was fine with us. Located conveniently between everything. Manitou Springs, Buena Vista and Salida were all a very easy enjoyable car ride. The bed was very comfortable and the deck view of Pike's Peak was so pretty in the morning and evenings. If we are ever back that direction, we would certainly stay again. So much nicer than a "standard hotel" for the same price!
This property and home was absolutely beautiful. The view was gorgeous both inside and out on the wrap around patio. We had access to the whole property and enjoyed exploring with our children and dogs. Dan was wonderful to work with and the on site ranch caretaker was friendly and helpful. Two beautiful and friendly horses were also present at the time of our stay. We could not have asked for a better weekend get away!!
