  • Cozy Cabin

    5/5

We loved the place so much! Are two kids enjoyed the hot tub and pool table at the cabin. It was very relaxing for my family. The AC in the cabin worked well even when it was warm outside. We went to Lake Almanor which is 45 minutes away and had a blast.

  • 🕷️🐁 Serious SPIDER and MOUSE infestations!!

    1/5

Upon arrival we were warned about the excess of rattlesnakes around the property and told we couldn’t let the kids outside at all and were instructed how to get to the paramedics station.

Upon entering the cabin we quickly found 2 gigantic (2”+) spiders coming out of the drain of the main bathroom. Then every single time anyone turned on a sink or shower in either bathroom on the main floor, more of these huge spiders would emerge.

When my sister went to shower she and her husband checked the shower first because she was scared. They found nothing so then she got her toiletries and went to get in the shower to discover a frog sitting on the drain! After releasing the frog outside she got back in and as soon as she turned on the shower, another giant spider crawled out of the drain!

We saw mice in the house. I even watched one climb up the wall by the fire place (I had no idea mice were capable of climbing walls 😱). We found mouse poop UNDER THE SHEETS in the bed before anyone had slept in it, and in the morning my sister found mouse poop inside her suitcase which had been in the bedroom with her all night!

At that point we realized it was unsafe to stay so we followed checkout procedures and left, asking for a refund for the second night. The host responded with belligerent texts telling me I’m “trash.” She then tried to excuse the issues by saying “I told you it’s rough country, the heat drove the critters inside.” She then said “it’s not the ritz you idiot.” I certainly was not expecting The Ritz but though it’s “rough country” I didn’t expect the wildlife to be INSIDE the cabin!

Horrible experience. Still trying to work with Evolve to get a full refund because they only refunded $40 and we paid over $1000.

  • Amazing place and location

    5/5

1951 log home with huge fireplace, woodstove, hot tub and sauna. Beautiful views. Great location near Lassen Volcanic National Park. Remember to gas up and bring food. Only on country store nearby with limited options. Only a couple of restaurants too although I'm sure there are more options in season. Checkin is at Noon which gives you most of the day to get settled. Brandon lives nearby and makes sure everything is ready for your arrival. No wifi and limited cell service so you are truly off the grid!!

  • Great get away to disconnect from the world

    4/5

This is a vintage cabin next to an amazing canyon. It is very quiet and beautiful. We all slept well in the peace and quiet and darkness. I was worried that it was going to be too hot to be enjoyable in August but the weather was fantastic and the house stayed cool enough even though it only has a couple of window AC units. The kitchen is well stocked.

It's about a 30 min drive to the NP but you pass through Mineral which has a restaurant and a General Store if you need to get any essentials. If you're there multiple days and do a lot of driving then getting gas for your car is an issue. You'll need to drive to either Chester (25 miles from Mineral) or Red Bluff (35 miles from the cabin)to fill up so plan accordingly. I would suggest taking a day in Chester and maybe exploring Lake Almanor. Chester has a lot of cute shops and restaurants.

Overall, we had an excellent time. The cabin has a lot of character and does have a lot of very fun amenities (we especially enjoyed the pool table). The decorations were very cool and we really enjoyed the wild west cabin feeling. That being said, the claim that there is central air is misleading, as it is two window AC units that you need to leave on all the time if you are visiting during the summer (we visited in early July) along with strategic placement of fans to cool the rooms that don't have AC units. The cabin floors could also use some maintenance as some of the linoleum is chipping and some of the carpet nails are exposed (which did result in a few pokes and scrapes). I also needed to clean the back bathtub before giving my kids a bath as it was pretty obvious from the dead bugs and dust that it hadn't been cleaned in a while.
