• Excellent space for a family meeting, a couple of minor problems

  Our three-day stay was a gathering of five siblings and three spouses, all over 60. We mainly talked, ate, and enjoyed the excellent mid-August weather, with mid-day parkland excursions led by the sister who lives nearby year-round.

  The physical arrangement of the house was perfect for our purposes -- a spacious outdoor deck directly outside the dining/kitchen area and the main indoor sit-and-talk area. Plus privacy as desired in the four bedrooms. The kitchen worked very well even when four people were active.

  The area is pleasant with lots of trees, but also lots of cabins -- not a place for solitude. This is a gated community, which was a bit awkward to coordinate since we had multiple cars, but all told it was not really a problem to meet people at the gate and things certainly seemed safe.

  There were two glitches. The dryer didn't work; this was a minor inconvenience for us, but might be more of a problem for a family or if people had been traveling and were seriously depending on it.

  The other problem was that the house climate control was handled remotely by the host rather than by us. I can see how this might be desirable most of the year (especially with kids in the house), but it did not suit us well since we had some hot days (I chose the place in part because it had AC) but nights were of course rather cool. The host tried to accommodate our desires, but we would have been better served if we could have controlled things directly.

  We stayed here for a ski trip to dodge ridge, and I am glad I found this place. I took this trip with four friends, and everyone having their own bedroom was great. Everything was clean, and the kitchen was stocked. Having a place to cook breakfast was very nice. The HVAC was good, and the pellet burner helped keep the upper level toasty. A bonus is that the parking area was mostly flat (other than the driveway to the garage, but even that wasn't bad compared to some other places I've stayed), with ample room for two cars. The water was hot, water pressure was good, and instructions were clear. For a trip with many people where multiple bedrooms are good, I would certainly recommend this location and would consider returning the next time I have a chance!
