Unique Place to Stay
5/5 The listing was for a historic fire house rental and it delivered. With some research, I saw that the firehouse is also used for events and was surprised to find it great for staying in as well. If you’re coming because you, your friends or family want to stay in a firehouse, you will be thrilled. It’s clean. There is a great sound system. The property manager is extremely quick to reply to questions.
A few things to be prepared for so that you aren’t surprised like we were: the listing says there is a travel crib and high chair but there are not. (I was sure to include our kids in our booking details) The listing picture shows a bench swing out in the large side yard, but there is no swing. The neighborhood looks sketchy (old buildings, factories, etc) but we felt safe inside, they also have a security system you can use. There is one small Keurig for coffee and a tiny microwave. The station is near trains - both nights we stayed, no less than 8 trains came through with blaring horns. There are mouse traps throughout the station but we saw no mice. It’s an old building….so, know that the room with the beds doesn’t heat up well compared to other rooms.
All of that said, you get to hang out in an old fire station with an old fire truck in it and equipment decor. It’s well decorated and clean.
