I was here solo, mostly to relax and escape some annoyances at home (huge success on both fronts). I enjoyed this place so much that I started planning a "next visit" before I even finished my first visit. I didn't use all of the interesting amenities, but everything described was there and in good shape, etc.
Cell phone service (Verizon) basically non-existent, but wifi was very good (and much appreciated): streaming, Zoom calls and Skype - to - landline all worked and were high quality with no lag.
I really enjoyed looking at / deciphering / the new vs. original and checking out how the cabin was designed and built. The renovation is very well integrated into the original. This is a great place if you have an interest in design/renovations/cabins/etc etc. really well done and lots of interesting touches.
Mostly because some other reviews mentioned it : You CAN hear cars, both when approaching and as they go by. I live at a busy intersection on a popular beach, so it didn't bother me at all. Mid-week in February, I'd estimate literally 30 +/- cars per DAY went by, mostly in what I assume is 'commuting' time (i.e. maybe 10-15 cars will go by within an hour or so, then nothing). There is more traffic than that in ten minutes, at any time, of every day where I live. I found the few cars that went by actually kind of peaceful; I guess it depends what you're used to. I wouldn't have mentioned it, but I remember reading other reviews before booking.
I had a great time and am looking forward to another visit.
From the owner: "Sean, Thanks for choosing the Freedom Cabin for your much-needed getaway. Thanks for the compliments on how we integrated the new modern craftsmanship into the old craftsmanship. We tried to keep the old cabin look but make it modernized also. Thanks again and hope to see you back"
. Freedom Cabin met all our hopes and dreams. The remote cabin provided us with time to escape and reconnect.A weekend away with no plans or expectations. Wiifii was spotty but really was fine with that.
Don't worry about packing everything including the kitchen sink because they have thought of it all. Even some things you didn't think you would need like a pinch of a certain spice or a crockpot for the mulled wine to simmer in.
The ZenDen will take you away to a dream land far away. Relax and unwind in the sauna after an amazing hike on a near off trail.
Fido will enjoy every moment as well. Lots of room to roam and enjoy some new scents and smells.
We had a great time just being together. The cabin has everything and more just open the door. Book it, don't wait.
From the owner: "Kathleen, We are glad the Freedom cabin met your expectations for a much-needed escape and family time to reconnect! We like to provide the most relaxing stay with no worries. Hope to see you again soon. Thank You"
It was a great place to be Private and quiet except for the trafic noise. Wonderful vacation

It was a nice place to stay and had lots of little extras we haven't seen at some other VRBOs. They had everything you could think of. The book with the instructions for things was a little hidden as it was opened to reviews and thought that was all it was until we started flipping through it. One thing we weren't expecting was being right on the road, but it was minimal traffic. They had a duck on site that would follow you around and he was great entertainment for our sons. They had fishing gear available and we were able to catch several fish. It's a little far to Acadia (where we went one day), but is somewhat centrally located if seeing several sites in the area - Belfast and Moosehead railroad, Stone Tree Farm and Cidery, Fort Knox. Overall it was a very peaceful place and we would love to go back.
