House is absolutely gorgeous! The views from everywhere in the house are stunning. You have the feeling that you are alone in the middle of nowhere.
It was everything we were hoping for and more! The location was at the end of a cul-de-sac. It seemed so secluded yet was close to neighbors all around. Bounded by a cold, clear stream on the back/deck side and a protected wetland out the front windows. Lots of wildlife all around. We wanted to stay out on the deck forever. It had everything we needed in the kitchen, plus a gas grill out on the deck. We used it all!! But it’s less than 5 miles into the town of Breckinridge with too many great restaurants to pick from. I really hope we can go back next year!!! Watch for the moose! I wish they had a place that I could post the picture of the big bull moose we saw one evening!!

From the Owner: "Thanks for the kind words, and we look forward to your staying next year."
We had a wonderful and relaxing time in Blue River. The moose visited us twice which was a wonderful addition to our stay!

Our group of 7 adults were very comfortable at this wonderful log cabin home. It’s in a great location close to Breckenridge and hiking trails. Wonderful Mountain views and a nice large deck with plenty of seating. Also, plenty of comfortable seating inside for our group to gather. No one even felt the need to turn on the TV…we were able to just enjoy each other and the environment!
Kitchen is fully stocked with a lot of nice extras we weren’t expecting. We were completely unaware of this area not selling plastic bottles of water so the filtered automatic water dispenser in the refrigerator was a Godsend to refill our water bottles! All the small and large appliances were extra nice and fully operational! The crank windows and unique shades were great to let in just enough cool air and light!
Just a couple of negatives…the master bed and sofa bed are not very comfortable especially if you are used to a softer mattress, but the other beds were great!
The owner communicated with us before checkin, was very attentive, quick to answer questions, and took care of all our needs.
Overall, the house was very clean and comfortable! The extra nice furniture and decor were a plus!! We loved our stay and would definitely choose this home again!!
This house was in a beautiful location in the Blue River valley. Views were wonderful and the deck was very nice. The master bed and couches were comfortable and we were able to check in early. Beyond that, the reasons below are why I only gave it 3 stars.
The house needs a lot of maintenance and general cleaning. While the bedrooms and bathrooms were mostly clean, the kitchen needed a thorough cleaning. There were crumbs on the kitchen sink rug, general trash/junk/dirt in the kitchen drawers, old food in the fridge; and there was even a pacifier sitting out on the baker’s rack, along with broken blinds from the slider door.
Maintenance items that need to be addressed:
• There were lightbulbs out everywhere and the entire light fixture over the kitchen island didn’t work at all.
• The bathtub in the guest bathroom, which we never used, constantly dripped, causing the well pump to run every few minutes, which made a humming/vibrating noise the entire time we were there.
• The shower door in the master bathroom had a terrible leak and the bathmat was soaking wet after every shower.
But the biggest frustration/complaint was that all of the digital thermostats were contained in locked covers. They were all set at 62 degrees. If you wanted it any warmer, you had to call, not text, the owner and ask to turn it up. I saw this in other, older reviews but honestly thought that it would have changed by now. Why wouldn’t you want your guests to be comfortable, and if you can’t afford the heating bills, then increase the rent! Being in a mountain home at over 10,000 ft means it’s chilly in the mornings, even in late June (when we were there); but does the owner really want people calling at 6am to turn up the heat?? It’s ridiculous! We’ve stayed in numerous vacation rentals and have never experienced anything like this.
I hope that the management company and owners make some improvements. But we won’t stay here again and won’t recommend it.
Hi Karen, thanks for taking the time to review your stay. After reading your feedback, the homeowner wanted to share the following:
- We apologize for the kitchen cleanliness issues. If you had let us know, we would have promptly sent the cleaning team back to address them.
- We're sorry about the maintenance concerns. It was actually the toilet and not the tub that was running; it has since been fixed by a plumber, and we're scheduling an electrician to repair the main bathroom light.
- Regarding the thermostat, we understand your frustration. We could have easily adjusted it with a quick call.
- There are no broken slats on the shade, and the island light works correctly.
Once again, we appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve the guest experience.
