We stayed for a week in this Slatyy Fork house, right at the base of Snowshoe mountain. Very comfortable and plenty of room for six of us. The host was very responsive and helpful with questions. Plenty of outdoor space with a fire pit. We had a great time.
We had a great stay. The house was definitely big enough for our family of 6. It was in a great location in regards to the ski slopes! We will definitely book again.

Spacious and well stocked kitchen for cooking. Fireplace didn’t work in the master bedroom or living room. That was disappointing. Cold, snowy and no firplace.

This was our second year in a row at the Cardinal Retreat. So, that right there, says something! We booked it off another company previously. Which was fine, but chose Evolve this time as the overall cost was cheaper (less fees), and the site came highly recommended. I have not met the owner or the host, so this review comes bias-free. I rely heavily on the perspectives of guests from other properties I book, so I will put as much detail in here as permitted.
The house is a gem for sure. It's located in a quiet neighborhood, but spread out well from other houses. It backs up to a golf course which is accessible by a 5 minute walk. There happened to be a lot of snow on the ground during our stay, so the area around the property was a scenic winter wonderland. Lots of deer roaming the property at all times of the day.
We stayed (again) with another family, to total 9 of us with 3 dogs. Two 50-something couples and 4 teens ranging in ages 16-19 (3 boys & 1 girl). It is priced much more affordably than places on the resort. (Trust me, I did the research.) You get a lot more space for the cost, and it is a place that is unbelievably clean and accommodating to pets. Without the smell, hair, or damage pets can often leave behind. The added bonus is that there is plenty of space in the house to spread out...between two decks front and back, a hot tub, multiple good-sized bedrooms with access to an adequate # of bathrooms, and a ping pong table in the garage (which the boys used a lot!)
Another gem to Slaty Fork! Alisha has been our host two years in a row, and she does a great job at preparing the place for each guest....leaving snacks, toiletries, laundry/dishwashing soap, and some other personal touches for us both times. She's very detailed and ensured everything was in order. She's also a great communicator and very responsive to anything you might need.
We chose to bring our food and cook our meals. The kitchen is stocked with everything you might need, to include 3 slow cookers, plenty of pots/pans, and glass serving dishes.
We like to ski/snowboard, and Snowshoe Resort is very accessible from this house. It is also located a short drive from Ski Barn (where we rented our gear) and a local grocery/coffee shop. Very convenient. You do not need a 4-wheel drive vehicle in the snow as the roads to get to these places are main roads and well traveled. I would consider returning here in the Summer to go mountain biking for sure!
The cabin was just as described. Perfect for our family vacation. Amazing!
