  • Lovely place for church retreat.

    5/5

I booked for a church retreat. My church immensely enjoyed it.

We have a good number of folks that can’t handle stairs and the ramp made it possible for them to enjoy the downstairs rooms.

The kids ran and played all over; They enjoyed the floating dock in the pond and the kayaks. They even enjoyed swimming in the pond despite the cold. The kids were in the rooms upstairs and enjoyed the pool table and games in the upstairs living room.

We have a couple members with dogs so being able to bring them and walk them on the beautiful property was a huge boon where other places don’t allow pets.

The large dining area and living area was perfect for our group of about 30. On Saturday, we had visitors up to 50 and still able to hold service in the downstairs living room (we did bring extra folding seating in anticipation).

Smaller niceties that were noticed. The towels were very plush/new and there were plenty. They used tankless hot water heaters so never an issue of running out of hot water. The deck looked brand new and looked very nice. The antique furniture was picturesque. Nice fire pit.

    Cons:

I would say the price point and the beautiful private space outweigh the cons but I prefer reading honest reviews so here is what we ran into.

    - We packed in food and there wasn’t enough space in the one fridge nor much empty cabinet/pantry space. (We were there a week)

    - Plumbing system doesn’t work the best, had issues with few toilets clogging.

    - Toilets are very low to ground so if you have older folks - suggest you bring a toilet seat riser for them. Tho, there is a ramp - it is steep - the place isn’t fully accessible - not a con really since not advertised as such, but just a heads up. All the rooms have tubs so if you need a transfer seat bring it.

    - In a similar vain as above, most of the beds are very high off the ground. Some of our older folks had to use steps stools.

    - Quite a bit of dust build up in places.

    - No railing on very tall porch’s nor the porch steps.

    - Stairs going upstairs do not have a handrail all the way up. Very creaky.

    - Some wore out chairs on back deck and some visible wear and tear places - viable water damage on walls, doors sticking, couch back broken.. nothing major just little stuff here and

    - Roads out to place narrow to one lane. Some folks found this unnerving. ATT cell phone service is spotty (there is WiFi tho so didn’t bother us much).

Just reiterating, we loved the place and look forward to booking again.

  • Delightful lodge and property

    5/5

The lodge was as beautiful as the photos on the site, and it comfortably accommodated our large group of family friends. Generous bedrooms and private bathrooms were a big plus for our group. The large yard and grounds provided ample space to play a variety of lawn games, and swimming in the pond was a popular activity for all!

  • Long weekend

    4/5

The house was as advertised as far as accommodations were concerned. The air conditioning was on the fritz evidently and we had someone looking at it for a good part of the first day and the majority of the second day. On the third day we had a farmer using the outdoor water hook up to supply their cows with water. I guess the house is the only water source on the road. Also on check in day, a man with a dog came to make sure we were checked in. The very dirty dog named Bub ran into the house and muddied up the floors, a comforter and even jumped into our friends vehicle. Another night we had men on an ATV come by, beers in hand, looking for a battery. We never seemingly had a moments peace from owners/caretakers/neighbors which is a little alarming when you have small children in the middle of nowhere. Also the bottom step on the back deck is rotting. We stumbled on it and avoided getting stabbed by the boards everyday. Apart from that, it was a nice stay.
