    3/5

The cottage itself is very nice.😊 The pictures of the listing did justice to the the cottage and lake respectively. The interior is beautiful; but there were done issues in cleanliness; cleaning dead bugs from the interior light and also the interior of all windowsills were filthy and not a good fit for the curious seeking little children’s fingers. The outdoor grill was not cleaned, we had to burn off left on food prior to use. The cottage is well stocked, one of the best I’ve seen - everything anyone could have ever needed. We did not use any of the things in the kitchen as I brought all of our own things due to the lack of a dishwasher.

Great supply of indoor and outdoor games!

The patio furniture is in dire need of replacing. The chairs around the table in the back were all covered in green mold. After finding a hose that had not been chewed up by critters, we tried cleaning them but no luck. We did clean the front patio set, one of the plastic storage benches and also the redwood settee and cushions so they could be used. It took a half a day to clean up the exterior so we could at least take somewhat of an advantage of it. A spiderweb here or there- sure; but gobs of them don’t form one guests stay to the next. And, there were GOBS, no exaggeration.

The lake is beautiful and we did take full advantage of it for fishing. Caught enough panfish for a lovely fish fry! Great for fishing, swimming not the best with the sticks and weeds (even next to the dock that we were advised was a sandy beach bottom), our two year old could not maneuver over the sticks and weeds. A couple of our guests did swim with water shoes. Good supply of floats and beach toys. The railing and staircase down to the lake was covered in cobwebs. I cleaned off the staircase and railing. The chairs around the fire pit were in rough shape. Burn holes, broken straps and I hate to mention it again loaded with cobwebs. The lights around the campfire had been chewed off by critters and left randomly around the fire pit.

As guests at the cottage we felt there would be a prep cleaning prior to our arrival to ensure all was in order. As paying guests we certainly did not get what we paid for. The cottage fell short of of the description and questions asked.

The host was prompt to my questions and inquiries and ensured all would be in order upon our arrival. I honestly wish we would not have experienced the issues we did. Cottage is beautiful with a ton of potential.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Patty, we are so glad you enjoyed the cottage and great fishing. We want our guests to arrive at a vacation home that is 100% ready for their stay, so we take your feedback about our properties seriously! We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:

    - Regarding the window sills and interior light, we take these comments seriously and have already addressed them with our cleaning team to ensure our standards are met. We had guests stay just before your visit who did not report any issues, but they will make sure those items are on their checklist in the future.
    - For the outdoor grill, it is not typically on our cleaning checklist to check for and burn off food residue between each guest, but we will make sure it’s properly cleaned for future guests
    - The patio furniture is being replaced this weekend
    - While our cleaners do sweep the patio chairs and deck between renters - nature can sometimes get ahead of us. The large wooden staircase, being outdoors, is particularly susceptible to cobwebs overnight
    - The cleaning crew and landscaper both reported that no lights were down around the campfire when they left - so we think the storm or squirrels may have knocked those down the night before your visit. This is part of their regular checklist.
    - We keep the area out to the dock raked and clear, and had not heard of any issues from renters in the 2 weeks since the last raking, but this weekend is the next scheduled raking and they will address whatever is there.

We're glad you enjoyed the cottage and the amenities it offers, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back with an even better experience. Thank you for your understanding and for bringing these matters to our attention.

  • Relaxing Weekend

    4/5

The cabin was perfect for our family. Our 10-year-old and 7-year-old loved sleeping in the loft. Everything was clean, organized, and ready for us. Lots to do including indoor and outdoor activities. We were a little disappointed with the lake water. It was shallow and mucky, but maybe it is better other years. I would say it is more of a fishing/boating lake than a nice swimming lake.

  • Beautiful cabin on the lake

Very well maintained cabin on the lake. Direct access to the lake. Great location for ice fishing with lots of Northern pike.

  • Long weekend with friends

    5/5

White lake is a quiet and natural lake just a few minutes North of Weyauwega. The house was exactly what my friends and I were looking for. While there were only 3 of us, there was plenty more space, including sleeping space, for more. We would consider coming back with our kids and spouses! The cabin had everything we needed, from kitchen supplies to games and even firewood.Outside we couldn't have asked for a better set up. Down a small hill was a fire pit by the lake and dock to fish from. Even without a boat we caught some nice size bluegills. Up near the cabin was plenty of room to park and play yard games, which were also available to use.Lastly, the communication with the owner was superior. I had a few questions before the trip and my emails were answered quickly and thoroughly.

  • Comfy and Cozy - for the most part

    5/5

My sisters and I stayed here for four nights. We try to get away for a long weekend a few times a year and this house checked all the boxes. Unfortunately, there were electrical issues. James did his best to help us trouble shoot and was very accommodating and it ended up being an issue with WE Energies who needed to come out a few times. Again, James tried his best and was easy to communicate with.

Other than that, the home is well stocked, beds were super comfortable and the area was very quiet except for the duck hunters. Just be aware there may be hunting going on depending on what time of year you go.

All that being said, I'd still give it 5 stars!
