• Snake Infestation

  It was a beautiful cabin in a lovely location. However, when we pulled up to the cabin, we were greeted by a huge grass snake--right next to the main entrance. When we got out of the car, we discovered several more on the side of the building. Luckily, my niece-in-law was brave enough to scare them away, briefly. To make matters worse, we found one on the kitchen floor near the fridge. My brave niece trapped it in a plastic jug and let it go down the road. We were on edge the entire time, inside and out. The snakes were always slithering around. We had to step carefully when outside. I need to mention, one member of our group has a snake phobia. It was not a relaxing stay for us. If you like snakes, book the cabin. Otherwise, stay away! I appreciate the opportunity to tell about our experience. Under the circumstances, I believe a refund is appropriate.

  Hi Linda, thank you for sharing your experience and bringing these issues to our attention. The homeowner takes feedback very seriously, and after reviewing your comments, they would like to offer the following response:
  
  -The property has been rented throughout most of the summer, and none of our previous guests have reported any snake sightings. However, in light of your experience, we are taking prompt action to address this concern.
  
  -Our property manager mentioned that they were not informed of any issues during your stay. Had they been notified, they would have promptly sent a professional to address and resolve the concerns right away.
  
  -The homeowner personally inspected the property, thoroughly checking the perimeter, interior, and crawlspace for any signs of snake infestation or habitation. No evidence of an infestation was found, nor were any snakes present in the structure. Additionally, to further reduce the likelihood of pests, the homeowner had already planned several upgrades, including replacing the exterior siding, replacing the wood deck with a patio, and installing a pea gravel animal barrier. These improvements will now be implemented sooner than originally scheduled, along with seeking professional evaluation and following any recommendations provided.
  
  -It's important to note that the nearby county park recently disturbed a significant portion of the adjacent woods and forest area to expand the camping grounds. This may have temporarily displaced some wildlife from their natural habitats.
  
  We understand that this was a stressful experience, and the homeowner is committed to making the property more comfortable and secure for future guests. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention, and we hope the improvements will ensure a better stay for all guests moving forward.
