For winter outdoor enthusiasts, both Cascade Ski Resort and Devil‚s Head Ski Resort, which features a golf course in the summer that turns into a cross-country ski trail in the winter, are just a short drive away.

In addition to enjoying the lake, explore the nearby Ice Age National Trail and/or Devil‚s Lake State Park for hiking, stunning views, and recreational activities. Take the short-cut on the historic Merrimac Ferry, which is only 3.6 miles away and generally operates 24/7 from April through November and sometimes December, weather permitting. Treat yourself to Super-Premium Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream at the Ferry Landing Concessions on the opposite side of the lake, on your way to or back from your outdoor adventures. Another recommended stop on the Merrimac side of the lake is the Tumbled Rock Brewery for craft cocktails, wood-fired pizzas and other good food as well as more live music.
