We had a great time

The home itself is beautiful, but not well equipped. This is probably the most barren vacation rental I've ever stayed in. For such a beautiful home with a great entertaining space, it is really lacking in certain amenities. I would liken it to my first apartment or college dorm room, not even kidding. This was honestly the worst experience we've ever had in a vacation rental.
We arrived at 5pm Sunday and discovered the door code did not work. I called the host, who did not pick up. Leave message and then text host, who says they will reply in a few minutes. Host resets door code remotely. Arrive to find a note from the cleaner saying they did not have time to put the towels away and they are in the dryer. There are only beach towels and bath towels, and 2 bath mats. Finally discover that all 3 (only one for each bathroom) hand towels are in the dryer. The next day I finally found 5 washcloths in a supply closet (in a house that can occupy 8 people). There are no top sheets on any of the beds, which is gross because they do not wash the comforters after every stay.
The TV was locked down and we had to contact host for the code. Wifi did not work after first night. The sound system does not work because it is on the hosts' private network (honestly, this is smart, and it's how I'd do it if I owned a vacation rental) and does not have enough bandwidth allocated to buffer music.
The kitchen pots and pans are Teflon and scratched. Wet dishes have been put away. There are 7 coffee cups and 7 drinking glasses, again, for a house that occupies 8. There is lots of plastic dishes and cups, which I can understand because of the outdoor space, but again, college dorm room feel. Almost no glass or metal prep dishes, everything is plastic and cannot put hot food into them. We managed to find an instant pot and had to cook every night in the instant pot. The grill was filthy, along with the outdoor refrigerator. My husband cleaned the grill so we could cook on it.
We realized the next morning that the spa was filthy, the water was brown and cloudy. I contacted the host, who claimed the spa person was JUST THERE the day before (I mean, they might be telling the truth, but if so, their spa person is scamming them.) They said they would send someone out. We wasted most of our day waiting around for the spa person because the host was not responding to messages when I'd ask for updates. I contacted Evolve, but they just sent a form response 9 hours later asking me to answer questions that I already answered, so they aren't helpful, either. The spa person arrived 6 hours after we contacted the host about the issue, and decided the water was so gross that he had to completely drain and refill the spa.
Garbage cans were already overflowing when we arrived, it looked like garbage day may have been the day of our check out, but by the time we left in the morning, no one had put the cans out.
We decided to stay for the duration, but only because we had an arranged boat delivery the next day and would've forfeited hundreds of dollars to cancel. If not, I would've left after the first night and demanded a refund. We had a great time out on the lake, I do highly recommend that. I give this place a rating of 2 because the backyard is pretty awesome. I am not sure if the owners are just horribly cheap or if they've trusted the wrong people for maintenance and cleaning.
Beautiful home and property. The dock was amazing for our boat and 2 Seadoos. The deck and hot tub were perfect for our family to hangout and enjoy. Weather was pretty hot, and the property manager was responsive to our central AC questions. Excellent family vacation! We will definitely book again!

The owners were very kind. Very responsive to every question we needed answered an more. House is perfectly located to be minutes to the dunes or up lake for the fishing. Will definitely be on the list for a repeat stay. Another bonus is door dash delivers to the location! Was everything we were looking for. 5 stars!
